FF #1 The Good: The art is outstanding and there are things going on to get you hooked for this series. We see just enough plots developing to spark interest in the comic. There's a nice surprise at the end that was touched on in Fantastic Four. Also, a classic FF villain turns up and he's working with some very bad people. The Bad: This series has a huge cast and some of them feel rather pointless. To say the least, I actually feel they could have their own series separately from this one. Fury Talk: This issue is pretty much your run of the mill, paint by numbers number one issue for a comic that's a continuation of a previous series. We see the team get a new member and he's someone everyone is very familiar with. We see how the team's emotional levels are holding up after the Human Torch's death. We also see why the new member was chosen. 5.5/10 Nothing major happens, which doesn't make it a bad comic just a typical #1 issue. But its enough to get me interested in the book.

Nice review, Jake. If I didn't already have so many books on my monthly pull-list, I'd probably add this. Be sure and keep us posted if you stick with this title, I'm curious to hear about how it develops.

Lol just kidding I knew he died.
I still maintain that the original title will come back in 12 issues though. Torch might stay dead a while longer though or perhaps that will be his resurrection issue.
Nice review though Fury.

I predict the Human Torch will stay dead right up until the Fantastic Four movie reboot is about to come out, then he will return in a 6 part limited series entitled Human Torch: Reborn.

I have to say that I was a little apprehensive about this, especially with the inclusion of Spider-Man (seriously, how many teams can this "non-team player" be on???), but was surprised by the scope of the book, and how good it was. I get the feel that the book is actually going to have the team try to make a difference in the world rather than just fight the latest bad guy.
Oh, And Norcalco, remmber the first rule of comic book deaths, because it will apply for the Human Torch.

FF #2 "Doom Nation" Writer:Johnathan Hickman Penciler: Steve Epting Inkers: Steve Epting/Rick Magyar Issue 2 of the FF kicks off with Reed, his father, Valeria and Spider-Man heading to Latveria with Doom in tow. They're on a mission to help restore Doom's rapidly fading intelligence. Not everyone on the team agrees with them helping Doom and we see some foreshadowing of possible team dissension over this course of action. Their master plan is to restore Doom's mind using information from his protege Kristoff's mind. The Good: Everything about this issue is good. The art, the storyline and the fact that Doctor Doom in this issue is completely freaking awesome. His goading of Ben Grimm over Johnny's death actually had me pulling for him. The intrigue of possible dissension in the team has me definitely wanting to see where this goes. The backup cast here was kept in the background (where they belong) and it made for a much better read than the first issue of the series. Reed's internal struggle when helping doom had me actually thinking he may choose the alternative. We also get another cliffhanger as we see the real reason Valeria decided to make a deal with Doom. 9/10 This issue is nearly flawless.
