Thank you. This has always been a pretty balanced and heated debate on every forum I've been to.

I'm going to start it off and say Nightcrawler wins.

Why do you believe he wins?

I don't think he's fast enough to keep up with Kurt's teleportation. Others have said that Kurt's teleporting patterns can be predictable, but only the people who know him really well have said that. I don't think Kurt and Remy have been on the same team for Remy to be able to predict Kurt's patterns. Furthermore, Gambit has only as much durability as any other human, and Kurt has presumably Olympic-level strength. I don't believe it would take more than a couple of solid blows to stun Gambit enough to give Nightcrawler an opportunity for a finishing combo.

Gambit has had the reflexes to block Daredevil's baton toss at the last second, an entire clip at point blank range from Forge, a full assault of projectiles from Riptide, a dagger toss from Silver Samurai, catch Harpoon's spear, and much, much more. I think his impressive reflexes give him more than a chance to compete with Kurt

Gambit has bullet dodging reflexes and Olympic strength isn't really that impressive overall. I think the idea that Gambit wouldn't be able to keep up with Kurt's teleportation to be highly suspect.

Experience in blocking projectiles will only take him so far in a fight like this. Kurt has developed an entire fighting style around BAMFing about as quickly as he can punch, and constantly attacking from new and unexpected angles and directions. Sure, Gambit had the reflexes to block DD's billy club. But would he have had the reflexes to block another billy club from a totally different direction a split-second later? And then another one from a whole new direction? As for all the other feats, they all have one thing in common: Gambit knew which direction the projectiles were coming from. As impressive as Gambit's reflexes and hand-to-hand skill levels are, I can't see him being able to use the 360 degree defense style that one would have to use against Nightcrawler.

The difference he wouldn't be blocking an incoming projectile, those reflexes would be used to strike once Kurt ports in. Just like Gambit, a few good strikes can end this, and one can even turn the tide.

Let us not forget the time Gambit realized it was best to just duck and toss a few cards directly around him, knowing he'd port in Yes, it wasn't the real Kurt, but the same tactic would work as well.

I was just pointing out the flaw in the initial argument. Gambit's reflexes are quite impressive for a street leveler. He should have little trouble keeping up with Kurt who despite having teleporting powers and decent H2H skill has relatively few good feats to base an argument upon. Kurt can't teleport faster than machine gun fire and his teleportation is signalled by the distinct bamf sound. he may get a few hits in, but it's asinine to say Gambit would not be able to keep up.

If gambit knows he is going to teleport and attack him, which he will know, all the guy has to do is duck or step aside. Then throw cards or attack in a physical way. To think gambit would just stand there and let him teleport around him in a 360 is illogical.

Damnit!! morals are on. I was going to use the Wraith/Sabretooth fight from the Wolverine movie as an argument for Gambit. *skulks away*

Iron Fist has been able to predict Kurt's teleportation and he did not even know him. I'm not aware of the instance but i have also heard that Kraven did the same as well. I think Gambit has that chance to predict where Kurt will teleport if he is focus on it, but i'm not sure if this apply for the majority. =]

I think Gambit would be able to keep up with him in the beginning of the fight, but after NC manages to land one or two good hits, keeping up with him would become more difficult. Yeah, he will know Nightcrawler is going to teleport and attack him. What he does not know is where Nightcrawler will be or how he will attack. Kurt could 'port to the ground in front of him and sweep his legs, he could appear in the air behind him to roundhouse kick his head, he could appear one on side for a punch to the jaw, ect. You can't just simply 'sidestep' an attack if you don't know where it's going to come from. I'd have killed you if you had That was back in the X-Men's early days when NC was still a noob. His tactics in that fight were like "First I'm gonna appear right in front of you... now I'm gonna appear right behind you... now I'm gonna appear right in front of you again." Additionally, Iron Fist is a far more skilled fighter than Gambit is, and doesn't his chi give him enhanced senses to some degree? I can't really comment on that. I was unaware Kraven and Nightcrawler had ever met. Dang guys. Am I the only one who's going to back Nightcrawler here? I'm not usually a horrible debater, but I can't take on k4tz, Lionshead, ckal, and Spidey 15 all at the same time either.

@delta: You have a point there. Maybe currently if he tries a more effective tactic, would be hard for Gambit to actually predict where he would teleport. Indeed, iron fist is far more skilled than Gambit, but i don't think you must be very skilled to accomplish that. I think you just need to be focused and try to study your opponent. Gambit might not be the best fighter but he is no slouch either. I think he could do it. Also, if i recall correctly, at the time, Iron Fist was unable to use his chi when he was fighting Logan, so i don't think it was much of a factor when he faced Kurt.
I have only learned the instance with Kraven when Ferro has mentioned it in a Daredevil vs Kurt fight in CV. I guess Vance might be aware of the instance as well.
Anyways, i don't think i will debate here. I only know the basics about Kurt and decent stuff about Gambit, but i'm not knowledgeable enough to put up a debate. =]
