Anyone a big fan of this type of music? Inspirational music related to Jesus? How so? Do you listen for the message, the atmosphere, the sound, all of the above?
I know me. I practically grew up on Gospel so I'm down with it big time. Smokey Norful, Kirk Franklin, John P Kee, Marvin Sapp, Rance Allen, Donald Lawrence, Byron Cage, just to name drop a few. So come and discuss the music, post videos of your favorite songs, come and comment on it, enjoy it.

I don't think it's a necessity to be a Christian to enjoy Christian themed music, just like I don't think you need to be a satanist to enjoy black metal. That said, if I wasn't a Christian, I don't think I'd find as much value or merit in the genre. I figure the more you connect to a song, the vocals, instruments, essence, lyrics, the more things you get out of it.

You just contradicted yourself a bit the Way I see it Gospel and Black Metal are the same in that they are apart of the same cosmogony right?

I do enjoy some good worship music on occasion, stuff like Hillsong United. I listen to Christian bands like RED, Flyleaf and Skillet with regularity though.

You just contradicted yourself a bit the Way I see it Gospel and Black Metal are the same in that they are apart of the same cosmogony right? Where's the contradiction? I was merely pointing out that you don't have to be a follower of a certain set of ideals or beliefs to enjoy something that group puts out. You may get more meaning out of what they put out if you do follow their ideals, but you don't need them to enjoy it, kinda sorta how you don't need to know every character's history in a comic book to enjoy the comic you're reading. See what I'm sayin'? As for them being the same cosmology, I guess you could put it like that at the basic level. One key difference is that for the most part, people who play black metal, working with satanism as lyrical themes don't necessarily do it because they believe in God or Satan or Hell. Quite honestly, they use Satan as a symbol for religious freedom, as in freedom from the ideals of Christianity, and freedom to embrace mankind's carnal nature, using morals along the line of "eye for an eye" as their guidelines. They use Satan as more of a symbol more than anything else. Anyway, don't want this thread to turn into a topic like that, so for now I'll link you to this if you're interested. So yeah, gospel music. You say you're a fan of it in the sense that it's black music. Any particular artists you feelin'?

I like the Soul and Flavor in it more than anything. You dig? I know about Levay and that form of Satanism.

This is another cultural thing. Gospel is like Hip-Hop music Nex it requires a certain something to appreciate I think James Brown referenced it in a song.

Being someone who has alot of Christian singers and musicians in my family I can say I have grown to like the music.I don't listen to it often though because I sin almost 24/7 and I don't feel right listening to Gospel while i'm doing stuff like that.So I usually only listen to it when an opportunity presents itself.I don't mix it in with my Hip-Hop,R&B and Jazz.

I listen to music from Sister Act while I'm having sex. Specifically Oh Happy Day

I'm pretty sure the visuals of Whoopi Goldberg dancing and singing would be enough to prevent me from having sex within the immediate future.
