Any word on why Hawk isn't Extant and why the heroes are allowing him to run free when the last thing he tried to do before he died was destroy the Justice Society and before that, destroy the entire universe? Didn't Hal Jordan try doing the same thing at one point? Yeah, but they handwaved it pretending he was possessed by a giant space bug. I'm curious if they made up an excuse for Hawk's behavior yet.

Excuses? We don't need no stinking excuses.

Best guess, they figured no one remembers anyway, so no point wasting time with something new readers probably will be entirely unaware of, and will therefore convolute things.
That is, if the writers themselves even care enough to think about it, in the first place.
And good Treasure of the Sierra Madre reference, Phantom.

I'm going to have to organize a black 'n' white movie marathon one of these days. I'm apparently missing out.

I'd offer recommendations, but you'd probably ignore them anyway. Why, do BnW movies take place in the Ultimate universe? ;D

They're actually talking about which actor could play them in a movie at some point. Yeah, I've seen that. Nick Fury wants to be played Samuel L. Motherf@#$!ng Jackson. Brilliant.

At some point, I'll think it will be revealed that you've actually read Ultimates all along but you still say you haven't, just to piss me off.

Best guess, they figured no one remembers anyway, so no point wasting time with something new readers probably will be entirely unaware of, and will therefore convolute things. The problem is that all Hawk and Dove fans (and Johns is clearly a fan, though he seemingly hasn't read any of their comics) know about this. It's their One More Day, their Emerald Twilight, their Cry for Justice. Everytime someone talks about Hank Hall, it is damn near inevitable that someone will go "Remember A2001? That freaking sucked."

I'd offer some too but as a huge fan of H Bogart, J Cagney and M Brando plus L Bacall and G Kelly they'd probably be very predictable. Ahh what the hell Bogart - (aside from the obvious) Petrified Forest, Left hand of God, To have and have not, Dark Passage, Across the Pacific, Sirrocco, Action in the North Atlantic, Passage to Marseilles. Cagney - The Public enemy, Angels with dirty faces, 13 Rue Madelline, Blood on the Sun, White heat Brando - On the waterfront (of course), Men, Wild thing (avoid Streetcar named Desire, I hate it with passion and prefer to forget he ever made it)

When will we see White Canary again? She was supposed to be better than Lady Shiva according to Black Canary...

New series, new universe, new story arc, DISCUSS!!
Picked up issue #13 because I've loved Swierczynski on Bloodshot and was pleasantly surprised. Good action, nice team dynamic and Starling seems like a pretty cool new character.

I haven't read 13 yet, but I love the series thus far. It's been great.

Everyone seems to hate on it due to unfinished story lines or something.

Because of the unknown history of Canary's origin? Haters gonna hate.
