Why the hell not? They did a Gotham Central ongoing and that was made of pure undistilled awesome. A Daily Planet would be have the same premise, except focusing on Superman's world instead of Batman's.

I want a Shazam! ongoing. And a marital arts ongoing. That involves stories in the martial arts world of DC. Like 'DC Universe Presents'. But solely on martial arts. I hope Richard Dragon gets more time after the relaunch. He's barely appeared in 20 issues over the course of three decades. I think they should have him younger. Either around what Bruce will be or a bit older.

I find it funny that, Geoff want have to retcon anything now. Because he can just say, this is the new way.

It was awesome because they had Brubaker to write the blasted thing and turned it into a noir pulp story in a setting that heavily favoured that kind of writing.
What are you gonna do with Daily Planet? Show Jimmy bring Perry's coffee and donats or something? And let's face it, Lois just isn't interesting enough to keep it going, presuming you're gunning for her to be the star.
Bottom line, DP may very well get an on-going. But let's not have any illusions that it will last, unless some amazing writer finds an impossible angle that hasn't been worked out yet.

More rumours: There could be a Captain Thunder/Shazam ongoing and/or film. And that DC could be close to acquiring the rights for the name of Captain Marvel. Lets hope this is true.

I'm pretty sure half the guys at Gotham Central didn't exist before the series. There's plenty stories to be told in Metropolis. For every monster Superman beats down there must be dozen or hundreds of people working on damage control, investigating where it came from, making sure that doesn't happen again, apprehending people responsible etc. A good writer can work wonders on a setting like that. Moreover, I'm pretty sure the angle of Superman through the eyes of a normal human, day after day is not something done before, at least not in the broadest strokes.

See, I doubt that's what they'll go for. Lois will likely be the star of the series, taking cases of her own, but I just don't find her particularly interesting in her own right to support an entire book. She has an important dynamic with Kal, but other than I can see her in a mini-series, but not much else. But as I said it's entirely dependant on the writer and his/her aspirations. I simply think DC will take the easy way out if they indeed go on with this as opposed to what Rucka and Brubaker did with GCC.

Let's not forget that the Sman hasn't been the only adventurer in that fare city. There's the Guardian, all the other people at cadmus, no reason there couldn't be a new Gangbuster. What about Maggie Sayer and her special crimes unit. Jimmy Olsen "Superman" pal, and Superman family were able to cut it.
In any case, I thought it was stated that there were 52 titles. I think we've made a wish list a little long.

There are 17 titles yet to be revealed, so people have a right to dream, beat.
While we are at it, why is there an OMAC title, of all things?

Well that would be unfortunate, but that wouldn't be what I wanted anyway, so it doesn't matter. Although for the record, I consider Lois pretty interesting and would read an ongoing with her done right.

Dunno. Maybe I'm selling her short, but I haven't seen sufficient layers in her character to support the idea that she's truly that interesting.
Of course, if being an interesting character was a necessary requirement to sustain an on-going, the Hulk would have been out of commission 4 decades ago.

While we are at it, why is there an OMAC title, of all things? This is what I was wondering. A few of these slots seem wasted. But then again, this has Geoff Johns written all over. He probably has some silly event in mind already that will come out in a few years where the OMACs take over the world or something like that.

The OMAC silliness should have ended when Infinite Crisis did. Why they keep pushing it is beyond me. One would imagine that these super smart, world spanning "heroes" would take the time for one afternoon or so to remove the blasted nano virus from the Earth's population, and not sit around waiting for the next time it decides to bite them in the ass.

Render unto Winick the things which are Winick's.
That was his idea in Gen Lost.

That was his idea in Gen Lost. And in Final Crisis, it was Rucka's. And in the OMAC title, it was Bruce Jones'. And in Countdown, it was, IDK, probably DiDio's. The point is they're thrown around.

Superboy Prime should have ended in Infinite Crisis too, but look what happened. I agree though.
