Looking to find a good starting point for a particular series or character? This is the place to do it!
I'm looking to get into some Star Wars stuff. Preferably post-Return of the Jedi.

I'd recommend hitting up the Star Wars discussion thread, since the vague subject title here might not catch their eyes.

No. This hasn't been done to my knowledge. Think this should be pinned as well.

Pretty sure this has been done before. Let me check. EDIT: Never mind, I was thinking of ' Catch Me Up!' I'll pin both of these threads actually.

Good starting part for some Green Lantern that may have a focus on the other GL like John, Kilowog and such.

good starting point for Iron Fist? I would say a good starting point is Immortal Iron Fist. There isn't much information that you would need to know about him beforehand at all, if anything. Everything is explained very well. This was where I started with Iron Fist, and one of the first series I read when I started reading comics consistently. Plus, Fraction and Brubaker are fantastic, it is a truly great run.

My father collected comics up until the 90's, so he has several decades worth in those plastic covers in boxes. I used to read some when I was a kid, which is where I started getting interested in comics. I also liked Spawn a lot, so every so often I would get a Spawn comic from my parents. I didn't read any comics for years, but I would read about some characters on wikipedia or something. I started reading comics consistently since about Spring 2010, so about a year and a half ago. Surprised?

Yeah, I find comics to be very enjoyable. I hope you at least still enjoy them as well. Do you still follow any titles?
He's still got them in the plastic wrap and in boxes in the basement of his huose.

Life moved on and my break from collecting may now be permanent. I still have all my old comics but that's it. I have almost gone out and bought some trades but resisted that temptation. Good to hear your Dad stil has them. "There's gold in that basement"

It's sad when you reach that point (to a degree). The only thing I've been still getting of Late is JSA (so soon to be none, though the mystic geek in me will probably try out JL Dark, Demons Knight, and maybe Voodu- at least until multiplicity comes out) Over the last 2 to 3 years you could have added Booster Gold, LEGION, Doom Patrol, Immortal Iron Fist, JSA All Stars, Daredevil (which Shadowland killed 4 me), GA/BC and some GA.
Considering that through the 70's, 80's and at least 2/3 of the 90's there was almost never a month that I didn't buy at least an 8 comics a week (often a lot more), that's pretty pathetic.
On the up side i'm enjoying sharing my old comic collection with my kids on occasion.

JSA is getting their own new series with James Robinson writing. They'll just be moved to Earth 2. There's hope yet, Beat.

If I've read correctly (or the rumors on DC boards are right) the start of DCNu E-2 ties into that. I'd be happy with Robinson doing JSA, I didn't mind his JLA/JSA crossover. A HELL of a lot better than Guggenheim's crap.

Yep, I regret not collecting in many ways but it was dominating my life in some respects (housing the collection, spend each month). I miss the reading but I have other things taking up that time now. I'm keeping my collection (at least for now) but that may change. I have had thoughts about selling it but its a big task.
