Cover Price: $3.99 Writer: Mark Waid Pencils & Inks: Paolo Rivera Matt Murdock returns to the Big Apple in this new ongoing series. He's back in the big city and partners up again with Foggy Nelson at their law firm. He tackles the villain Spot who's attempting to kidnap a crime boss' daughter at a wedding in Manhattan. After a trial is delayed, a new assistant DA informs Matt that someone else may be involved with his client and Matt takes off as Daredevil to investigate. He doesn't get far before he runs into the next issue's surprise guest star... Thoughts: This is a really good opening issue. Waid does a great job of setting up the series here and delves deeply into the Matt Murdock side of the character. He also does a great job of showing off Matt's radar sense and certain little things he can do that you might not have thought of. The guest for the next issue looks promising and I'm interested in seeing his relation to Matt;s client and what he wants with Murdock himself. All in all, this issue is about as good as an opening issues can get. Great set up, it leaves us as readers on a cliffhanger and promises some great action in the next issue. It's nearly flawless and also includes a really nice back up story as well. The art is equally as good as the writing. It's obvious Waid has done his homework. Go. Buy. This. 9/10

I just read it. It is very good. It's a fun, almost light-hearted issue. Waid does a great job of making him likeable and some humorous moments, and does a fantastic job of explaining the character and his motivations. I have really never read Daredevil before (except for Reborn), but I will surely continue to follow this every month.

I've never been able to fully grasp how the Spot recovered from getting his necked snapped by Tombstone.

I'll pick this up today before work. I love how everyone loves Waid for his DC material, but the first thing that comes to mind for me is jobbing the holy hell of out Spider-Man's villains, lol.

A couple Spidey villains are in this issue and the first thing DD does is one shot them both.
JK but let me know what you thought of DD vs. Spot.

Spot didn't get one-shot. Success?

Epic, mon ami. I actually wondered why the Spot didn't just portal on DD's body as he did with that mob guy, but anyway.
DD kissing the bride was a LOL worthy moment. I was hesitant at first, but after reading years upon years of doom and gloom in DD's comics, his lighthearted attitude is a refreshing change of pace.

I liked the tone a lot. Haven't realized (although I've heard) Murdoc was such a horny bastard. What a guy.
I just don't think Spot was out to get DD or wanted much to do with him. He was just hired to steal that kid.

Yeah, he's quite the ladies man. And his girls are always gorgeous, too.
Possibly so. With his powerset, he has the potential to be lethal.

IIRC, DD was like oh shit, he's got crazy powers.
