Yeah. Being disfigured by burning your face at 13 is for pussies! Conan village routinely got raided by Aesir raiders and his clan got killed five times over. He was killing Aquilonians naked when he was 12 and was already boning princesses and killing giants when he was 16. And he didn't have any fancy smancy fire bending powers. So yeah Zuko is totally a pussy, he should like the scar, it's just something more to make him try to look badass and get the ladies (not that he succeeds)

How did I know Conan would be involved in this conversation.

How did I know Conan would be involved in this conversation. Because Conan is one of the measuring sticks by all true manly fantasy heroes must compare when discussing manlyness and awesomeness.

Yep. Who needs character developement when grim and badass and eviscerate those who oppose you? You're erroneously assuming being grim and badass while eviscerating those who oppose you precludes character development. Or that liking characters not grim excuses emoism.

Seriously, if your badass meter only has "Conan" and "emo" on its scale, it time for a serious upgrade.

You know Crom had cavemen build his badass meter. He likes to keep the troglodytes under his thumb.

...And we give a fuck why? same reason we give a fuck about avatar Seriously, if your badass meter only has "Conan" and "emo" on its scale, it time for a serious upgrade. Never said that. But my point was that if you want to talk hard lives in a fantasy world. None of the characters in avatar can complain much

same reason we give a fuck about avatar Let me rephrase: Why do we care about Conan in a thread about Avatar? I mean. yeah, they can't complain compared to Conan, but why compare them to Conan at all? If Conan was the benchmark against badassery is measured freaking Batman couldn't complain.

Just looked it up. This series is planned for 2 seasons of 26 episodes each.

I'm sure it's not set in stone. Originally they planned a mini series of ten or so episodes but expanded it due to demand. Same thing happened with the original.

One of the few times that action from fans managed to make a nice difference.
If only we could have done that with Firefly too...

Let me rephrase: Why do we care about Conan in a thread about Avatar? Because we were debating about whether X character is emo/deserves to be all moody and as he is because Y series of harsh events happened to him. Therefore it pertains that we would compare them to other characters with harsh lives, like Conan. And then infer whether X character really had it that hard or not. I mean. yeah, they can't complain compared to Conan, but why compare them to Conan at all? If Conan was the benchmark against badassery is measured freaking Batman couldn't complain. When comparing what the benchmark is in a certain category of analysis. You always measure compared to the either extremes of the scale. So on a scale of badassery you compare from most badass and least badass. Batman is very high out there, but say that hacker pussy in Die Hard 4 is very low there.

Some characters having it harder doesn't mean Zuko didn't have it hard. You're comparing him to freaking Conan, for crying out loud. That's like comparing Kilimanjaro to Mount Everest and then concluding that Kilimanjaro is a grassy knoll. You don't have to be Conan Badass to be a badass. The problem being is that you labelled anyone underneath Conan as not badass just for being underneath Conan. ergo your scale is broken.

Some characters having it harder doesn't mean Zuko didn't have it hard. There are many dozens of characters who had a much harder life then Zuko. As far as fantasy worlds, he really didn't have that hard a life which is my point. Not that it isn't hard, but that it's not that hard. You don't have to be Conan Badass to be a badass. I never said otherwise. I just meant that isn't badass The problem being is that you labelled anyone underneath Conan as not badass just for being underneath Conan. ergo your scale is broken. I never said that. I just said Conan is my measuring stick

Not that it isn't hard, but that it's not that hard. No, your point was that he was a pussy. See, it's right here: And being a pussy and an emo means that he in fact didn't have a hard life has nothing to complain about. Any comparisons to Conan or Batman or any other fantasy or fiction character who had it harder are completely irrelevant. So which one is it? Either he didn't have a hard life and has nothing to complain about, or he did and does. You can't claim it both ways.

No, your point was that he was a pussy. See, it's right here: Ignoring the fact that I was obviously playing this as a joke barb... But.. you're taking this out of context and then going the the ad absurdium route. Whether his life was hard or not is beside the point of if he's a pussy or not. What makes him a pussy or not is how he reacts to that conflict. Whether he succumbs to despair or not. Etc, and since his life (within a fantasy origin context) isn't that hard when you look at fantasy characters in general. Then it says a lot about his character when he reacts a certain way. And being a pussy and an emo means that he in fact didn't have a hard life has nothing to complain about. Any comparisons to Conan or Batman or any other fantasy or fiction character who had it harder are completely irrelevant. So which one is it? Either he didn't have a hard life and has nothing to complain about, or he did and does. You can't claim it both ways. I'm not claiming either way, I'm arguing that his life isn't that hard (levels and degrees of harshness) as far as fantasy characters go. Hence when faced with his challenges. How he reacts to them is what might make one judge (either as a joke, like I did) or not whether he rates on something entirely subjective as being a "pussy". Do I think he's a pussy? It doesn't matter, what matters is that we can ascertain the level of harshness his life has had, then make up our own minds based on what we would rate to qualify as a pussy. But again this is a joke that got you hoped up, as it want to happen when one discusses something one is big fan of.

An emo or a pussy is someone who noticeably complains about how hard his life is when his life isn't hard at all. Zuko does complain, so the question is if his life IS hard enough to justify. There's no reason to compare him to other, harder life over fantasy. Oh I knew it was a joke. It just annoyed me that you brought up freaking Conan. Conan in a badassery discussion in a thread about a kids show? That's like going into a thread called "Who can beat Spider-man?" and saying "Galactus". Like, no kidding?

Actually there is, how can you come to any conclusion to if his life is hard enough to justify complain if you don't have anything to compare it to? And again, compared to other fantasy characters he really doesn't have that much to complain with. Oh I knew it was a joke. It just annoyed me that you brought up freaking Conan. Conan in a badassery discussion in a thread about a kids show? That's like going into a thread called "Who can beat Spider-man?" and saying "Galactus". Like, no kidding? Conan is my children novels. I've been enjoying Conan since I'm 10. How is Conan not for kids? ;D
