cool, I won't spoil it then. Anything else I need to catch up with while reading Darkness' on-going before starting Artifacts (presuming fresh developments on the topic at hand occur there)?

I don't remember if you read First Born, but if you haven't get that. War of the Witchblades is also a must. the issues after War of the Witchblades would also be relevant.

I intend on reading War of the Witchblades, so I got that covered. I'll see if I can get a hold of the issues after that, too.
Thanks again, Crom.

If marvel wants me to start reading them, they'll have to start writing good comics again. agreed... though I am loving the insanity of the Chaos War arc... lol

It does seem interesting that Marvel's solution to pulling in new readers isn't to write better stories, but to pull a gimmick. And let's face it, the .1 concept is just another gimmick that, so far, I have not seen add anything.
You would think they would have learned their lesson from the 1990s.

Well chyron, I think the reason for releasing .1 to attract new readers is because Marvel can advertise it as that. It is supposed to be a starting point for new readers. You can't advertise "better writing!" Let's assume there was better writing across the board, it wouldn't necessarily attract new readers because how would they know, if they aren't currently reading Marvel?
I'm not promoting .1 at all because of the ones I've read, I have not liked them. I would love to see great writing across the board (there is some great writing right now), but that just may not be a reality for a company who puts out as many comics per week as Marvel does.

The Uncanny X-Men 534.1 issue was the only .1 issue I have liked so far.

The Uncanny X-Men 534.1 issue was the only .1 issue I have liked so far. That one and the Captain America .1 were both pretty good. The other ones I've read haven't done anything for me.
