I believe the ending to the trailer, pretty much revealed that they got their powers from alien source or a meteor like Vandal Savage did.

I sounds like something I'd write.
Also, probably just lack of funds maybe for major advertisement.

Yeah thats probably why.
However a lack of funds indicates it might be more likely to be a more creative project

Nowadays, people can spread the word of film by word of mouth and via internet. And for free. That's hopefully what they'll be relying on. Look how it turned out. We now know of it.

Seriously, Ann Hathaway does not belong in this movie.

I've had a mini-rant about this one brewing for a while. Now is as good a time as any to let it out.
Judging by what we can see from the trailer, it looks like Pixar has forgotten what makes it Pixar. What happened to the days when Pixar had really cool and original movie ideas? "Let's do a movie about the toys in a kid's bedroom coming to life when he's not around!" "How about a movie about a colony of ants being enslaved and oppressed by grasshoppers!" "What if the monsters in your closet are just there because it's their job to collect screams!" "What if the human race left earth to rot in garbage, but a cleaning robot gets left on and it evolves it's own personality!"
For the majority of my life, Pixar has always made some of the best animated films available. Dreamworks and all the others could go suck it. But now, it's like Pixar is dying. Their last two films have been sequels of previous films. Sure, one of those sequels was great, but it's still a strong sign that Pixar's original-idea machine is running out of juice.
And now they're giving us this?? "Let's make a movie about a quirky tomboy-ish girl who breaks cultural bounds and proves her worth in a society run by men. Yeah, that probably hasn't been done before."

I'm more annoyed at the crappy display of scottish gaelic culture this movie promises then any cliche that's been done a thousand times.
