I've read that fight, but, personally, I've always regarded it as PIS. Nightcrawler did a lot in that issue that he really shouldn't be able to do. I think it's partially due to the fact that Dave Cockrum originally intended Nightcrawler to have superhuman strength. Some of Nightcrawler's very earliest showings give him rather impressive strength feats (such as going blow-to-blow with Spider-Man), so I think some writers were still confused on that issue.

I remember hearing about that fight once (and being really excited to find the scans, since it would be a great addition to my respect thread) but then somebody told me something about the context of the issue that made it a whole lot less impressive. I don't remember what it was exactly, but I think it involved the fight being staged or something.

If I remember right, it was Erik who gave me the details on that fight when I asked him if he had the scans... EDIT: I did a bit of research and found his post again. "Uncanny 451 - Wolverine and X-23 staged that fight. She was not trying to hurt Kurt, she was trying to put on a show. She was not at all in character and this staged showing was revealed in New X-Men 20 (which I cannot find my trade for at the moment or I would provide the scan where Wolverine states that it was staged so he could introduce X-23 to the X-Men). In truth, she was accidentally introduced to Wolverine twice by mistake and they had to explain it away. Since Claremont wrote X-23 completely out of character, his was chosen as the fake. " I really appreciate the scans though It's nice to know I'm not the only one contributing to this.

but either way you look at it, X-23 was moving pretty fast at him(wanting to hit him or not) its still good reflex imo

ya, nightcrawler was my first all time favorite hero, i wonder how AoA nightcrawler will be after joining uncanny X-force What I'm curious to know is whether or not they plan on making AoA Nightcrawler permanent. Marvel has a habit of eventually bringing back most of the characters they kill, in some way or another. Was bringing in the AoA version their way of saying, "Nightcrawler had a good death and we don't want do give him some stupid cheap revival, but we also kinda want to have Nightcrawler back again, so let's bring in a popular alternate reality version to be his permanent replacement." Only time will tell suppose. I don't like AoA Nightcrawler like 616 Nightcrawler, but having him around forever is better than 616's fitting death being followed up by a stupid resurrection. I want them to bring 616 NC back only if they can find a really good way to do it.

Wolverine has shown he can easily hit Kurt if he uses a bit of strategy and X-23 is every bit as smart. Either way, the fight is moot for a feat since X-23 was likely instructed not to hurt anyone.

true, and bringing 616 nightcrawler would really alienate who he is, meaning he has been shown since the beginning as a catholic hero an i think a resurrection would really mess him up
