Some people class Led Zeppelin as metal, I class them as rock. People class Wolfmother as Metal, I class them as psychedelic rock.
A metal band I like would be Metallic.

Led Zeppelin is rock, wolfmother is somewhere in between.
Both are awesome thought.

I enjoy a wide variety of metal. From Black Sabbath to Ensiferum and everything in between.
Metalcore may be one of my favorites since I also love hardcore music, but I also love power, melodic, death, black, folk, and heavy genres.
favorite bands. Silent Civilian As I Lay Dying Ensiferum Eluviete Nightwish 3 Inches of Blood Metallica (Pre-90's) Iron Maiden War of Ages Demon Hunter All That Remains Killswitch Engage

All of these are awesome. Disturbed is metal, Scorpions is rock. I have seen Disturbed being classified as metal, though some metal fans disagree with that since they don't find them heavy enough( including me ). I think David has described it perfectly, classifying the band as hard rock. Though, i don't find it strange how some think of it as metal band.

I mean technically Disturbed is often classified as Nu metal. Personally I consider that whole genre pseudo-metal in the first place.

I really like Nu Metal and i find it as a realli nice metal genre. Linkin Park, Disturbed, Pantera( they are groove metal, but they have some elements of Nu, Just like Disturbed, they are not Nu metal, They just have some elements of the genre in their music ), Korn etc.... are really awesome bands.

Well, the term nu-metal is really a misnomer. Nu-metal bands at their core are just hard rock with some heavier distortion and effects added to their guitars to give it that "metal edge," (which isn't really a metal edge, but more of a harder hitting rock edge). Structurally, the genre has nothing to do with the metal genre. Disturbed, Linkin Park, Korn, Limp Bizcit, Papa Roach, and things of the like are nu-metal bands.

#1. Linkin park is boss and therefore I don't hate ALL Nu-Metal.
#2. Personally i hate bands like Korn and Disturbed, but that's just my thing.

Disturbed was pretty good in concert. I'm not a huge fan but they put on a decent show. 5 Finger Death Punch was on the show too before they got popular.

Has anyone heard the new Mastodon album? I'm thinking about actually buying it instead of just using You Tube constantly...

To each their own man, but Korn and Disturbed are some of my fave. Not only lyrically wise, but their special style is just pretty awesome for me. Not to mention that Jonathan ( Korn ) sings with so much emotion, especially live.

This is how you make it easy, here are all my favorite "Metal / Hard Rock" bands. I try not to get too caught up in labels one way or the other. If I hear it and it's good I'll keep listening to it and probably buy it.
Breaking Benjamin Metallica (have seen them x2) Nirvana Daughtry Red Flyleaf Linkin Park (have seen them x4) Three Days Grace Disturbed (have seen them x4) Mudvayne (have seen them x2) Seether Slipknot Rammstein Korn (have seen them x2) Chevelle (have seen them x2) Staind (have seen them x1) Godsmack (have seen them x2)
Oh yeah and I'm going to the Rockstar Uproar festival on Friday and seeing Avenged Sevenfold for the second time along with Seether and Three Days Grace.
