Astonishing Thor 01 Robert Rodi - Story Mike Choi - Art Frank D'Armata - Colors Mike Choi. That is all you really should need to read in order to want to get this issue. Thor is a beast. Even without his Odinforce he still is a god to be feared and he shows that right at the beginning of the issue. The issue had a fun little look at Thor's past. Just a back story to explain a new character. It was a fun look at Thor's past that got a smirk. Thor single-handedly stops a tidal wave the size of skyscrapers before Heimdall summons him to point him in the direction of the why. Thor makes a trip to outer space and quickly encounters not one but two old and dangerous beings that are the cause of the havoc that is raging on Earth. The art was really really nice. Frank's use of colors is not the clean polished look we are used to when Choi does the colors but it was still nice. The story blew on by way too fast though. It was 22 pages but they did use full splash pages twice. Very cool visually but I feel like I got just the tip of the story here. I found myself not very satisfied with the issue overall because of that. That is even with Choi's art, who I love by the way. Overall I would give this issue a 6 out of 10. It was fun but it just did not give me much as a reader. As an appreciator of art, the issue was very satisfying but I just wanted more. Not more in a good way either.

Astonishing Thor 02 Robert Rodi - Story Mike Choi - Art Frank D'Armata - Colors Now this is where the issue starts to pick up a little steam. This review will have spoilers to the last one so if you have not gotten the previous issue, skip the very next paragraph. After Thor's encounter with Ego and with his creator, the Stranger, Thor is left floating in space. What is really awesome is that despite how fast Ego now has become, Thor is faster still and easily overcomes him to the other side of the solar system where the final destination is. It is the Museum of Taneleer Tivan. Tivan has something that Ego and the Stranger want and Thor wants to find out what that is so he can better deal with the duo. Thor is the man when it comes to awesome lines. He could write for Arnold Schwarzenegger movies. Yes I had to google the name. They were good laughs though. We do get to see what Thor wanted to know and he is unexpectedly placed in harms way for it. I say unexpected because that seems a bit out of the ordinary for Tivan. Thor would be a rare find but I suppose that the much sought after thing in this issue may be even more of a rare find. Overall the issue did a little better than the previous one. But IF I am being completely honest, issues one and two should have been written into one single issue and given me a much more satisfying reading experience. Overall I give the issue a 7 out of 10. It gave a little more but it still was not enough, especially for a mini.

Nicely so far, when does this story take place? If I had to guess, before fear itself, some time after Avengers Prime. Basing this off Heimdall sitting around in Asgard's ruins, no Odin, etc. Outside that I don't think we have any indication of when this takes place.

No problem, Thor is all over the place so it's a understandable to be wondering where this and that takes place.
