I like X-23's book. It suffers form being overly bring sometimes, but I enjoyed what I read nonetheless.

My favorite Marvel girl, loved her introduction story, too bad about her mom.

I've read #1-5 so far and just haven't gotten to #6 yet. I must say I'm really enjoying the book so far and like that they avoided the temptation to just turn her in to a one-dimensional female "killer." I like that they are examining her humanity and have put her apart from everyone else (X-Men and X-Force) on this journey of self-exploration. Definitely a good ready every month IMO.

I think the suicidal course the story is taking is not really my thing. X-23 finds out she has a soul and the first thing she does is go emo and try to kill herself?

Lol yea, it is a little emo but I don't feel that it's anything new for her. She's always wanted to die and her whole emo thing is what appealed to youngin's and paved her way from television into comics. I think it's pretty interesting though, the decision she made on the last page. I'm interested in seeing how that relationship develops. They could end up having a sort of symbiotic relationship.

From what I have read, she only has wanted to die ONE other time and that was when she first met Wolverine. When she almost killed herself in X-Force Volume 3, she did so because she thought it was the logical choice because when they were fighting the clones, one of them said to kill the clones because clones do not matter. So to her, it was the death of one soulless lump of genetic material is worth a whole team of mutants as well as the entire mutant species. Spock on a mutant level.

This scene? I'm sure she's had the thought lodged in the back of her head, though. No one goes through as bad as she's been through and only feels like dying once, even if she's only said it out loud on panel one time. I think she'll turn around though. What I speculate will happen is that Laura will be there for our little Asian friend when she... has needs. (sorry, trying to give as little spoilers as possible) And that'll give Laura a sense of purpose and maybe a best friend. Which at her age, I think she needs more than some old men trying to mentor her.
