The cosplay looks like cosplay. The suit looks like something someone could wear and stay alive in WW2.

What would make this movie is if the Chitauri alien Herr Kleiser was involved somehow. That dude was awesome. He was quite the bamf. Speculation is pointing to skrulls (likely being more-so like their Ultimate counter-parts) playing a part in Avengers.

Well that's some good news if done right. I liked the Cthauri back when I was buying ultimate universe stuff before they allowed Loeb to rape it.

disagree completely, especially the stay alive part. You think they'd have better chances in the cosplay?

You think they'd have better chances in the cosplay? No, I think neither costume is better in considering the real perils of war. And I still think it looks terrible for a big budget marvel movie, especially after they've proven how good they can do with iron man.

What works for one doesn't work for the other. The suit looks like a blend between the iconic suit and an actual military uniform, which, considering it's a war time hero, makes sense. It looks purposeful and practical, which is what I would expect from Captain America in the middle of WW2.

Thing is I don't agree with this, and neither do I think I it appropriate for what was WW2 attire

The materials are all wrong, not at all of the WW2 era. Style and molding as well is wrong. And the everything else in this costume screams "I will die from sniper shot the minute I exit the bunker"

And the everything else in this costume screams "I will die from sniper shot the minute I exit the bunker" It doesn't have to be an exact replica of the 40ies era attire. Just make sense as a uniform. Of course it does, he's wearing bright blue for crying out loud. ;D It's not like you can just take that away now, is it? At least he's wearing a helmet.

Although upon closer look, the little wings on the helmet seem painted on. That's a big minus.

Again, they had millions of dollars to work with and it isn't better then a cosplay costume worth a fraction of it In your opinion. It's a subjective matter. Clearly not everyone, or even a majority would agree with you.

The cosplay looks like cosplay. The suit looks like something someone could wear and stay alive in WW2. I agree. It looks like something that could have been made in the 40s to me. Oh and that cosplay does not look that great. Rubber suit = movie production fail. That said, it does look better than a lot of cosplay costumes.

This is the WWII US Army Infantry fatigues up until 1944 worn by all troops except paratroopers. Attachments:

And just in case you were wondering about those paratroopers, here is their fatigues. Captain America's suit has that same wool-type weight to it. Attachments:

Eh no, it's clearly not the same fabric or close, the molding armor looks very muck like plastic or some type of resin that did not exist and the color scheme itself is not very good. That costume doesn't look like 1940's fabric at all. I'm a history major, I can see the flaws in the costume a mile
