In the words of Riker "tough little ship" (Worf frown's "little ?") Defiant had all that Enterprise (the latest at the time had to offer) with more speed, better armor and cloaks, didn't see the need for duplication of "less". Andromeda add's heavy armaments (nova bombs etc), Tardis add's time dimension capability, I prefer teh Ai and sensor systems of Liberator.

If you're going for sheer performance, I don't thin you actually need anything other than the TARDIS. Doesn't that hunk of junk frag stars on accident or something?

I do not believe the Defiant was faster than the Enterprise-E. However, it is obviously more maneuverable since it was significantly smaller. But I would say the Delta Flyer II was arguably faster than the Defiant in sublight conditions considering that was a specific point in its design.

Oh in terms of capability it's definitely up there. there are a few problems. 1 It actually takes 5 pilots to properly fly the Tardis - the reason every trip is bumpy. 2. It's cloaking device has been broken for eons - hence why it's always stuck looking like a police call box. 3. the "eye' of the Tardis (power source) is somehow linked to the Time lord (heart or essence if I recall)who owns that particular machine. I wouldn't imagine that would be easy to fix if shit went wrong. That's the real reason I want Liberator incorporated - Auto repair function. 4. no real luxuries aboard. I think having a holodeck etc (ohh now that I think about it no holodeck on Defiant so I DO want Enterprise - make it E) Now that I think about it throw in Voyager from the finally - Ablative hull plating, enhanced shields, not to mention a med lab manned by holo doctor.

IIRC it was rated Warp 9.7 against Defiant 9.5/6. The Delta flyer wasn't even close at warp 7 something (aside from the "test" run of the failed trans warp drive. I don't tend to think of the E when I think Enterprise. A few movies doesn't overshoot 7 seasons for me. The fastest ship in Star trek (baring of course the future time ships of 29th century like USS Relativity) was Prometheus at warp 9.9 (god I just realized how much this makes me look like a trek head - for the record Blakes 7 is my favorite Sci Fi, followed by Babylon 5) .

I like E-E because it is by far the sexiest Enterprise to me, but I agree it can't overshadow all the years spent with D (Though ironically, E-E lasted longer than E-D in the in universe timeline).
A few notes on the TARDIS, I understand much of what you said, but, 1. I presume you'd require a full on crew for any of those ships?
4. Isn't the thing, like, HUEG!!! inside?I mean we only ever see one room because it's all the budget would allow, but I remember a quote from recently going something like: Doctor: I was in the pool. - I thought you were in the library? Doctor: ...So was the pool.
All this inside TARDIS itself.

Doctor: ...So was the pool. All this inside TARDIS itself. 1. You don't need any crew on either the Andromeda or the Liberator. Both have Artificial intelligences that can completely control all aspects of the ship (more complete control on Liberator than on Andromeda though) 2. Your right I'd completely forgotten (probably because for me Doctor Who is the old series and I favor the 4th Doctor - where you never saw that stuff - best thing is the 4th Doctor is currently airing on Sci-Fi down here). The first glimpse of just how big the Tardis was was the for TV movie (ironically the first time we actually SEE the "eye" that I mentioned, when the master perverts it and almost brings about the destruction of the galaxy/ universe {I forget which}). It is massive both inside and out (since it folds time and space within it too), what is perceived as the outside is only the "broken cloak" stuck in the image of a police call box from a previous mission.

HA! That is exactly why I said "sublight" speeds. And there are two different sources on Enterprise-E's maximum warp speed. One source gives the 9.7 you mentioned, another gives 9.985. Since neither are technically canon, no one source can really be argued over the other in a debate.

In regards to this whole debate of whether or not the E was faster than the Defiant, why wouldn't the most advance ship in star-fleet at the time not be faster than a much smaller ship?
Also just to add, the E also had a EMH. Well at least it did before those Borg stormed sick by. Leave it running long enough, like all those EMH miners and they will develop some similar personality.
