UPDATE (3/29/11) Marvel's facebook page has posted the link with the comment "Who is the American Panther? Any Guesses?" Clearly, this is implying the man (or woman) behind this costume is not T'Challa. HOWEVER, their comic news section says the following: Mixed messages from Marvel on this...I'll post on the Facebook comment and try to get some answers. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Say goodbye to T'Challa's old look! Apparently the events in 'Fear Itself' will have a major impact on the man, forcing him to switch to this god awful attire. Am I being too harsh or do you guys agree? www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=31551

Why the motherf**king h**l is the king of Wakanda trying to copy Captain America's style??? Are Marvel's American writers so egotistically patriotic that they think even monarchs of other nations really all want to be Americans deep down inside?

This seems ridiculous on the surface. However, I'll avoid passing judgment until I see the context and how this comes about.

The King of an African nation showing his deep American patriotism, it's what I've always wanted. It also gives me hope that some day an Australian can become the 43rd Captain America. Seriously, though, I realize just about all comics are made in America but they have got to realize it is not the only country of significance in the world.

This is his punishment for not tattling on the Illuminati and thus causing the Civil War, WWH, Secret Invasion, Dark Reign, and Siege.

LOL @ Herald of Galactus.
I actually like the design, but the very concept is against the Panther's character.

I posted the following comment on their Facebook post: "Marvel, the comic news section of your site with the article states it is T'Challa. Can you please clarify? Which post is accurate?"
Hopefully they'll reply.

Doubtful. This has everyone on their toes so far, revealing the actual intention isn't beneficial just yet.

Since that post is being swarmed with stupid comments like "It's Obama!", I posted the following on their wall: Hey Marvel, your latest post implies it's a mystery about who is behind the new American Panther costume. However, the article on your comic news website clearly implies it's T'Challa. Can you please clarify if the FB post is a mistake or if the news article jumped the gun on saying it's T'Challa?
