I'd love to see just one RPG on this site get off the starting blocks.

I'd love to see just one RPG on this site get off the starting blocks. Me too. Dane's showed the most promise and it has even gotten a few posts in the actual thread.

Perfect. I think we have a good starting cast for the run. I have an idea for a story and general plot-line but I need to make sure that people can post. I am only debating on whether or not I should include the Browncoats: Redemption movie as part of the canon or not.

I really want to see that movie :3 Anyway, do you want to talk about the plot in a PM?

How do you want us to post characters? Or should we start doing that? I came up with an idea for a character, I would like to be on someone's ship if possible as a passenger or crew.

Great question both of you. I will see what you think for the plot Ferro. Just a general idea right now. If you think it would fit in well with the continuity, then we will fill everyone else in on it and hopefully get going on it.
@dedman: You can either post your character here or in the RPG character thread that is floating around here somewhere.
I have an idea for my own character and he is central to a subplot of the story but not the main plot. Depending on how the plot gets shaped in its final stages, he might not even start with the main cast.

I suppose I should have been more clear but what information do you want us to post on our character?
Would it be possible to have a list of available ships for this?

Yes Dedman. You can post as much on your character as you are willing to provide. I need to know who would like to be part of the crew and desired positions on the ship. There are available fan made ships for the RPG on the site that I linked in the OP.
I will allow almost any kind of ship you can think of but there are restrictions. First, no LS (light speed) ships. The Firefly universe is a non-warp speed universe. Secondly, the finer things in life are always Alliance owned. So that means if you want to have a sexy ship, you are or were Alliance and that will have an affect on Browncoat characters.
The main cast of the starter ship will be on the Caravel Class listed on the Firefly RPG site.

Caravel Class Transport Dimesions: 164 X 43 X 27 feet Tonnage: 1,507 tons Speed Class: 4 cruise/ 6 hard-burn Crew Quarters: 2 double bunk cabins Fuel Capacity: 125 tons (600 hours) Cargo Capacity/Maximum Deck Load: 200/250 tons Passenger Capacity: 6- 1 double, 1 quadruple bunk cabin Price: 15,070 new, 6,028 at auction. Agi d8, Str d4, Vit d6, Ale d4, Int d4, Wil d4; Life Points 8 Traits: Everybody Has One (Minor), Skills: Pilot/ C314 d2, Perception d2 Complexity: Very Low. Maintenance Costs: 100.5 (new), 150.7 (used) Equipment: 3- Monorail winches on roof tracks in cargo bay.
The Caravel Class transport was designed as an “everyman” freighter along the same lines as the ubiquitous Firefly. The ship was initially designed and built by the Kieran Yards and the initial production run was just under seven hundred. Over the intervening years, many thousands more were built under license throughout the Verse. The Caravel is divided unevenly into two levels-Upper and Lower. The larger Lower deck is dedicated to cargo handling and storage, and allows for up to 250 tons maximum deck load to be loaded and stowed. At the aft end of the cargo deck, a raised half deck leads back to four large storage lockers. A winding staircase at the extreme starboard quarter leads to the Upper deck. The Upper deck is dedicated to crew, passenger, engineering, and avionics. The stairs open into a large crew lounge, complete with limited, but adequate galley facilities. A passageway leads forward on the portside past passenger accommodations, crew cabins, and the fresher, terminating at the bridge. Due to initial difficulties in fashioning a large, inexpensive grav ring for the propulsion system, Kierahn engineers opted for the unusual and unique configuration of three smaller rings operating in tandem to produce the same effect. The prototype configuration proved initially unstable, and a large magnetic regulator array was added in a retractable foot (which doubles as one of the main landing gear) to temper the system instabilities. One further oddity of the design is that the Caravels forego the single integrated sensor suite that has been a common design feature for most spacecraft, in favor of several smaller installations to provide the same capability. While this does produce a small increase in maintenance cost and manhours, it also produces a flexible, robust sensor suite with numerous redundancies.
The information on the Caravel

I'm still on board, but TBH I've pretty much lost hope in our RPG section. It is not a lost hope. We are getting more and more users all the time. We just need more to make RPGs easy. Right now, the limited size makes them hard to start. But if all the people that I listed are still on board, that is more than enough to get a story going.

Yeah, let's do somethin'. Really, the listed members are more than enough to get this thing rollin'. Most long lasting RP's I've been in have had like at most four. This should get goin'. All that's really needed is interest from like two or three people, and consistency. Two posts from each member a day, a general direction for the group to go in, an' we're set.

I do not know RPGs though so maybe you can tell me, do I tell everyone the general plot for the RPG or keep you guys in the dark so its like an episode? If I do the latter, how would I maintain control of the plot? I already have one worked up and it got the green light from another RPGer who plans to be with us.

Dedman is still in.
If we do end up with around 4 people, I would suggest that we all be aboard the same ship.
As for your question, you do release information at specific times when it is appropriate. It is best done through characters that we are interacting with. On a space ship, it is actually ridiculously easy as you can just have information come to us through the communication system as messages. If you are also roleplaying a character, you could just have that character provide us the elements of the plot. As most of us have some experience, we'll pick up on it and roll with it. Since another person who will be roleplaying has some of the details of the plot, they could also provide information or reinforce plot points.
