It looks like director Matthew Vaughn's X-Men movie will end on a cliffhanger. According to Total Film, the conclusion will pave way for a sequel that will be "even more fun." The director of "Kick-Ass" then went on to compare the movie to director Christopher Nolan's Batman films. This origin film will take place in the early 60s, focusing on Xavier and Magneto's relationship, as well as the forming of the first team. Vaughn says he'd like the follow-up film to take place in the later part of the decade. James McAvoy (Wanted) is playing as Xavier and reveals he'll use cerebro for the first time...and it might have dangerous results. X-Men: First Class is slated to open June 2, 2011. And in case you missed it, here's the Russian trailer that has additional footage.

I always have something planned in terms of sequels. So this doesn't surprise me.

I am feeling a bit better about this movie but I have to admit that I do not like someone using Nolan films as a comparison, even if that comparison was only in movie formula and not execution.
It puts the wrong idea in people's heads. They hear or see that sentence and will start expecting Nolan quality when that was not really what was said.

Did I imply otherwise, Erik? I just said that because he is indeed comparing it to the films, in regards to the formula. Hopefully people don't just skim these and actually read the full statements, LOL.

Because if you think I did give the wrong impression I can re-phrase that part.

I... don't even know what to say to this. I've been heavily debating with myself whether this first one looks like it will be acceptable or not. I really don't know how I feel about the idea of sequels.

I won't know if I'm excited about the sequel or not until after I see the first one.
