20th Century Fox has released three new minute-long character spot trailers for some of the students who will be appearing in the film X-Men: First Class. Each one of these character spots reveals a whole lot of new footage. There is one for Havok, played by Lucas Till, one for Beast, played by Nicholas Hoult, and one for Banshee, played by Caleb Landrey Jones. These videos are not yet available on Youtube, or any other site from which I can embed videos here, so here is the link to a site that does have the videos. www.aceshowbiz.com/news/view/00040312.html(If any mods know more than me about embedding videos, feel free to edit this OP to include them).

Like I said with the last trailer, the more they release, the better this film actually looks. Sure, they're destroying continuity, but I guess it was never the goal in the first place to be true to the comics, but instead inspired by them. (when we're talking about X-related films of course...Thankfully Marvel Studios is remaining pretty good w/ continuity)

That basic concept is the only thing that's keeping me on board with this film. The part of me that wants it to stay true to comics is just finding more and more annoying little hangups with every bit of footage I see. But when I push aside my X-Men fandom and remember that this film isn't supposed to be just like the comics (and rather be, as you said, inspired by them), it actually looks like it could be a good movie... ...with one exception. Most everyone I've talked to about X-Men: The Last Stand has agreed on one thing: there were a lot of problems with that movie, but the part that hurt it more than anything else was the fact that they just tried to cram in soo many new characters to have their own little cameo appearances and mini-plot threads. I just can't help but feel that First Class may be making the same mistake. Having just Xavier, Magneto, and maybe 4-5 students would be great. It would give all the characters plently of screen time and character development. But they're also cramming in Sebastian Shaw, Emma Frost, Azazel, Moira McTaggart, and at least 6-7 students.

Having too many characters was just one of MANY flaws X3 suffered from.

Having too many characters was just one of MANY flaws from which X3 suffered. Fixed. I am disappointed that an Admin like you would leave himself so open to Grammar Nazis like me.

My personal thoughts on the three character spots:
Banshee: This is just one of those things that is giving the "stay true to the comics" part of me a whole lot of grief. I've always been a pretty big fan of Banshee in the X-Men comics. He is (was) a cool guy. But now the character whom we have always known as a middle-aged, dashing, easy going Irishman is now a 15-ish year old kid who can't get a date and who doesn't have any kind of Irish accent that I've been able to discern so far. It seems that the only characteristics he shares with his comic counterpart are his name, hair color, and powers. But, when I push the fanboy in me aside, he actually looks like a cool character. Young, awkward, sarcastic, and getting a decent amount of face time using his cool powers.
Beast: Man oh man. If he only had a muscular physique, he would be perfect (even before his extra mutations, Beast always had a gorilla-like body. He was never skinny like this movie version). With the exception of his body type, he's nearly a carbon copy of the character I know and love from the comics. Early bloomer genius, slightly lowered self esteem due to his appearance, ect. I love his feet. And his extra mutation, turning blue and everything... it actually looks real. I'm starting to like his blue look.
Havok: I don't know much about Havok and his personality from the comics, so I have nothing to complain about with this guy. Generally, he seems like a cool character. Every X movie is going to need that one guy who has trouble keeping his powers in check. The only thing I don't fully like his how his powers look without his harness. It's like he's flinging off giant red hula hoops or something. It just looks kinda awkward. I'm very much looking forward to seeing how he will be related to Scott in this movie. Since this movie is supposed to happen around the 60's or something, and X-Men 1 is set somewhere around the late 90's or early 00's, I'm thinking father/son, perhaps?

The g/f wants to see this one too, Really? No hunky shirtless Chris Hemsworth to drool over in this one. Of course, a lot of chicks dig James McAvoy too, but he's not really built like Manly-Man Hemsworth, and I seriously doubt he'll ever be shirtless in this film.

Yeah, the collective gasp that went over the theater during Thor when Hemsworth came out shirtless included her too. :-(

Yeah, the collective gasp that went over the theater during Thor when Hemsworth came out shirtless included her too. :-( I for one am actually glad that chicks are obsessing over Hemsworth. For so long they've all been about Justic Bieber and Robert Pattinson and all other guys who are just as feminine as they are. It's nice to see girls liking real men again.
