Ubisoft Motion Pictures, the film and TV production arm of the game publishing company launched in January, is developing 3D feature films based on Assassin's Creed, Splinter Cell and Ghost Recon, reports Variety.
The division is headed by Jean-Julien Baronnet, who said that Ubisoft Motion Pictures has been working with the games' producers and Ubisoft's marketing team to identify the DNA of each game and come up with storylines that are consistent with the company's three biggest franchises.
"Our strategy is not to diversify but to bolster the appeal of our franchises -- that's why we want to make sure our films will reflect the brands accurately and consolidate our fan base while expanding beyond the games' primary target audience," said Jean de Rivieres, senior VP of international marketing and distribution.
Baronnet added, "We want to keep ownership, retain control over the film content, and we're open to work with studios on the development of our projects, and eventually collaborate on the pre-casting, pre-budget and script."
"We will have a script ready by the end of the year," de Rivieres said. The team will travel to Los Angeles in June to meet with studios about the projects.
The trade says that Ubisoft Motion Pictures is also developing a 3D CGI series based on hit video game Raving Rabbids. The 78 episodes will have a runtime of seven minutes each.

Honestly the only one of those I see making a good movie is Splinter Cell, if they use the plot ofn Chaos Theory.

I really don't see how an Assassin's Creed movie could be good honestly...

Are we talking about good as a stand-alone film of merit, or good as an entertaining popcorn flick to enjoy on a saturday afternoon?
I think it could be the second. Then again it may be another SF; Legend of Chun Li or whatever

I could see a pop corn flick, but enjoyable and good are not necessarily inclusive.

That's why I asked what definition we are using. Besides lets not confuse good and great. Good doesn't carry much weight, I would consider good barely above average.

A well made Assassin's Creed movie could be awesome. The trick is the "well made" part.

I dunno, the main thing I loved about Assassin's Creed above all else was the story, so I could see a good film made about it. I might even go as far as to say if they just straight up copy pasted the story from Creed 2, you'd have a good enough to impress the audience, and more importantly, impress me.
