The Story:
Gotham. The year is 1881. Alan Wayne is meeting with a group of men. They are Edward Elliott, Theodore Cobblepot and Nicholas Anders an architect and bridge designer. Their goal is to design the buildings in Gotham to surpass Metropolis and the young architect Mr. Anders has devised a means to dig deeper so their foundations can rest safely on the deepest bedrock possible. This will allow him to bjuild taller buildings and increase Gotham's future on a national scale.
In the present, Batman (Grayson) is interrogating a criminal who's had some involvement with a shipment of Semtex entering the city. As Grayson finally gets a name (by threatening to drop him off a roof) a series of bridge explosions rock Gotham. Batman does what he can but still can't prevent the loss of 31 lives. He meets with Commissioner Gordon and Batman reveals that Cobblepot (The Penguin) was involved in the shipment of Semtex.
Red Robin communicates with Grayson and he reveals that the 3 bridges that were targeted were once referred to as the Gates of Gotham. Grayson finds Cobblepot who reveals that one of the bridges was originally named Cobblepot Pass. He also reveals that he's heard the man responsible wears an interesting costume. Batman says the new villain purchased the explosives from Penguin. The Penguin also tells him he's never met the men but its Batman's duty to protect him.
Grayson meets up again with Tim Wayne (Drake) and they're joined by Cassandra Cain and Damian Wayne. Tim reveals the 3rd bridge was named after another family, the Elliots. Finally, we go to Arkham Asylum and see the villain Hush. he's approached by the new villain of the series, the Architect who wants to know if he'd like to come out and play.

This is a mini series and it feels like it's going to be a very good one. I'm on board for the next 4 issues.
