I'm coming up with an idea, but I'm still a little bit unclear about the perameters of 'reboot'. Are we talking like minor changes to a character's history without seriously altering the character as they are today, or are we talking more like major "What If" or "Exiles" changes that completely alter the character?

I might do my own quick entry to kick things off...

The Scene
It's a dark, rainy night in Gotham City. A prominent family of three, a father, mother & son are leaving the theater. As they make their way to their car, a mugger approaches. He asks the man for money and he refuses. A scuffle ensues and shots are fired. The police arrive a few moments later to discover the bodies of the father and son. Both are victims of gunshot wounds, however the mother is nowhere to be found.

A few tears later, the same gunman has become something of a legend for getting away with the killing of such a prominent Gotham businessman. He has established his own criminal empire and Gotham has fallen into a cesspool of daily violence and corruption. The police don't know who trust. This includes their own officers and lieutenants. Muggings and random shootings are all too commonplace in Gotham City. Residents are afraid to leave their own homes at night for fear of their lives.

A family is out for a night on the town. They take in dinner and a movie in downtown Gotham. As they're leaving to return home, another gunman approaches them on the street. He holds them at gunpoint and orders them into an alleyway. The father is distraught over the welfare of his family and tries to stall for time. The gunman becomes belligerent and cocks the pistol. As he's about to pull the trigger, there's an almost buzzing sound in the air. He clutches at his throat and feels the warm blood on his hands. Shocked, the family looks toward the end of the alley and sees a figure in dark clothing. The father leans down and picks up an object that's covered in blood. It's in the shape of a bat....

The father shouts at the woman and wants to thank her. She leaves the scene before authorities can arrive as the family agrees she almost looked like a large human bat. The female returns to an undisclosed location on the outskirts of Gotham. Making sure she hasn't been followed she takes a series of passages that lead her back to an old mansion. Disrobing in her bedroom, she looks in her mirror and says, "Martha old girl, tonight was a good start."

I'm not much of a writer, but I'll try my hand at this.


Jor-El put the final finishing touches on the programming for the small shuttle he was about to launch. He knew he had only moments left. His entire planet was going up in smoke around him. Nothing could be done. No one could be save... except for his young son, Kal-El. The boy's only hope was to be sent off in the shuttle to some other planet where hopefully he could survive and grow up. Jor-El had briefly considered sending the shuttle to a little watery planet in the Milky Way galaxy, but quickly decided against that. That little planet's technology was a thousand years behind Krypton, and it's people were prone to violence and war. Instead, Jor-El decided to send his son to a planet where he knew he would learn the true meanings of justice, fairness, and inner strength. He set the coordinates for the center of the galaxy.

A little over a year later:
The Guardians of Oa turned their interest to a small vessel bound for their planet. Was it an attack? No. It carried only an infant lifeform, humanoid in appearance. What was to be done with it? It was too young to survive on it's own. It had been left to them as their responsibility. Did they have the time and resources to raise a child? Something had to be done, but it would not be easy. The Guardians, if they were prone to express much emotion, would have groaned at this unexpected and inconvenient little burden.

Twenty years later:
Parallax, in retribution to an attack from the Green Lantern in charge of sector 2814, was threatening to draw all energy from the Sun, snuffing it out and ending all life on Earth. The planet was in panic... and then gasped in awe as a blazing green flash of light streaked across the universe. Ion stopped just short of the Sun and prepared for battle.
"Why have you come here, little Kal-El, the monster's voice spoke from deep inside the star and through the chasm of space. "This is not your sector. You do not belong here."
"I have come to do what no one else can, Parallax, Ion's vioce boomed. "It's time you were brought to justice.
"Fool! Powerful though you are, you must still have the same inherant weakness that all Green Lanterns share! The yellow power of this sun makes you weak! You can not hope to fight me here!"
Ion, stern and strong though he was, was tempted to smirk at Parallax's idiocy. Without a word, he flew forward, straight into the core of that bright yellow sun. His kryptonian physiology exempt him from the usual weakness of Green Lanterns. The flames of this sun didn't weaken him, but instead increased his powers to their utmost potential. This battle would be short.

Got bored


The boy never knew his parents, to a passing eye he would seem like nothing more then a street rat, running around in the shadows of Gotham. But Cadmus saw something more something darker in those eyes. He exceeded all of their expectations, even at the young age of thirteen he was top of his class, over shadowing men twice his age and twice as trained, the only problem was that he knew it! So they pushed him and his training as far as it would go, Seeking out teachers and masters, focusing his mind and skill. Learning to control the anger inside him and aim it at his enemies.

As a man he proved himself many times over, no matter the loss of men he always got the job done. He became one of the greatest they had ever seen. But they sent him to Gotham and that’s where the cards began to fall and his obsession began, It is understandable why he was drawn to the Bat, they shared so much, a darkness that both had grown to overcome for the greater good. But there was a difference, the Bat never killed, never crossed that line and maybe that is where Cadmus went wrong. They finally had the joker and as he was ready to pull the trigger, the shadow crossed the moon light and they thought and he was beaten.

At first they thought it was revenge, but he just wanted to kill him to prove he was better then him. So he had failed for the first time he had felt defeat, so he disobeyed orders and went back, this time going after the sidekick and soon found himself facing the two defenders of Gotham. Again he lost and this time he was captured, so Cadmus turned their backs on him and left him to rot listening to the madness of Arkham . But we had an offer for him after all a man like that should never let his talents go to waste.

Jason Todd Welcome to the Suicide Squad.

General Grant Wilson

Jason Todd Brought up by Cadmus and trained to be a killer, obsessed with batman and robin after being beaten by them twice: Finds himself made an offer by General Wade Wilson the son of the famous Deathstroke: So Jason becomes the first member of the new Suicide Squad. A small group of the worlds worst and doing what they do best... with almost no chance of coming back. But what is Jason really after, what part does Wilson see him playing and who will make up the final group.

Suicide Squad (which has a large effect within the DC world)

David Cain leaves the league of assassins after failing to create the perfect weapon; he sets the child known as wild dog free and starts to seek away of creating the perfect weapon. So he starts looking for talented children round the world. This means that he never kills Shiva’s sister and Shiva never becomes well Shiva and Cassandra is never born. The two sisters grow up happy and become a crime fighting duo known only as “The Sisters”. Cain carries on looking for his recruits and becomes aware of a young boy in Gotham and arranges for his parents to be killed. One fateful night the flying Graysons are shot in front of their only son, David Cain sweeps in but at the last moment is stopped by Batman who adopts the young boy wonder. (So dick still become Robin).

Daivd Managed to escape that night more frustrated then ever continues his hunt. But is drawn back to Gotham when he discovers about the murder of a local mob boss and the only survivor is the youngest daughter Helena. Helena seeking only revenge accepts the offer and starts training with Cain. Her anger holds her back and Cain realises that he can not simply train one person to be the perfect weapon but needs a team. So again with Helen at his side starts hunting again, they travel the world taking on various jobs, Helen takes the name of the Huntress and a few more years pass.

Making a name for himself Cain soon is offered a contract with Hive which he passes on still wishing only to complete his dream. But want’s to meet the young man that the job is offered to a Grant Wilson, the son of the infamous Deathstroke, after a short battle Cain defeats the young Wilson but offers him a place at his side along with Helena, so the group grows (this means Grant never dies and Slade does not take the Hive job and face of with the titans the first time, which may very well mean that Jericho never joins the titans.) So now with another person in tow the team start taking more jobs and soon once again find themselves at odds with the League of Assassins.

The three find themselves on the run from the entire, numerous battles ensue. It is not until Shrike betrays the League and joins with Cain that the tide turns as Bronze tiger is killed. Ra’s seeks peace and the two forces agree to stay out of each others paths. Now the team has one more member and is still growing. Cain hears of another boy in Gotham and sets off with his people in behind him, he finds the boy stealing hubcaps of the batmobile. Cain offers the boy a chance to join him, but before the boy can answer Batman appears and tries to apprehend him. A battle breaks out and Batman soon finds himself out numbered by Grant, Helena and Shrike, Dick Grayson show up (as Nightwing) and faces off against Shrike.

But Batman is hard pressed and is soon defeated, and the team turns it’s attention to Nightwing, who now only wishes to get Bruce and retreat and he succeeds. Cain tells his people to stay and let the bat escape, the boy comes out from his hiding place and Cain makes the offer again, telling him that he could be everything they are. After watching how they just beat the Batman, Jason joins and beings his training, but he is not alone when he joins them. A Gotham rouge discovers Cain is in the city and approaches him, offering his young daughter for the team, at first Cain is reluctant. But the rouge makes him a deal, he will help them find jobs and solve mystries that no one else could solve if Cain trained his daughter. So Enigma the daughter of the riddler becomes a member. (Meaning that Jason never becomes Robin and Enigma never joins the titans)



So now Cain has the chance to train two young knew recruits and trains him he does, brining all the talents of his collective team, the two young members find themselves at the mercy of some of the worlds most dangerous people and in the end they became a solid members of the team. So now Cain had one of the most dangerous groups of people in the world. Taking on various jobs, one of which is during No Man’s Land, Riddler finds out about a hit offered by Two Face on Gordon and passes it on to the group. (Without Cassandra to step in and stop her father Like in the comic, Gordon is killed) Once again Batman feels he has failed because of Cain and sets out to capture (or kill him) with Nightwing and the rest setting out to stop their mentor, the Bat family comes to blows with the group, the battle reaches a panicle when Jason kills Grayson.

The new Robin (tim) calls out to Bruce who has Cain against the ropes and out of rage starts to beat Cain to death, but is stopped by Tim and Azrael allowing for the teams to retreat. (So bruce has the whole lost partner thing down, much like the death in the family story just a different robin..kinda) So Cain finds himself on the run from the hero community and his team behind him. But a twist of fate offers them a chance to break away from the powerful heroes who now seek revenge. No more running from the likes of the titans and the justice league. They are approached and given a chance by Checkmate and finally find a name for their team..the Suicide Squad.

As you can see this will, have numerous effects on different stories, but still allow them to continue but with different people, but also gives new roles to characters that could add an interesting twist on numerous things. so just a bit of fun!!!

It didn't say anywhere that you can't nor did anyone say anything when I said I have a rewrite. In fairness, if it does not count that's cool, I just had fun writing it. It's not like I can win the prize anyway, I stay in the UK so I was just entering this for fun.
