Legacy is fine as far as stories are concerned; I just dislike some of the impacts it had on continuity.

Speaking of Skywalkers, the one thing I must give credit for to the Clone Wars cartoon, it made Anakin a lot more likeable than he was in the movies.

The EU had done that well before the TV show aired.

The entire Clone Wars was already explored in great detail prior. And the comics, novels, etc. did a better job of it.

@jedix: Another unidentified power Luke has used is his ability to change temperatures. Do you recognize what power that may be? The only ability I know of that relates to changing temperatures is Alter Environment, but as far as I know, Luke never learned that power by these points yet.

Luke ate some meager rations in near silence without a fire, and the rancors stood heaving from exhaustion in the shadows, sleepy-eyed. They weren’t recovering well from the exertions, so Teneniel filled a water skin, and as the others in the party slept, the monsters bowed down to her and let her sponge their faces with a wet rag. Luke wondered at their behavior, then realized that since the rancors had no sweat glands, the rigors of the trip left them suffering from the heat. He went to Teneniel. “Here,” he said. “Use the Force to help them. It can cool their bodies.” He touched the first rancor, let the Force wash over the creature. It sighed contently, touched him with a great muddy claw, as if to pet him.

Closing his eyes, he concentrated on the heat sensors of the fire prevention system of the lounge and the corridors around it. It was the simplest of all Jedi powers—directed against the most basic system in the ship—and the result was utterly galvanic. The sprinkler system burst into gushing life. A rainstorm of water poured down over Luke, Threepio, and every squatty, mushroom-shaped, putty-colored Kitonak in the section.
“Deck Sixteen!” cried Threepio in the Kitonak tongue. “Deck Sixteen! The water is in the shuttlecraft!” And he sprang back, dragging his master to safety as the thundering tide of Kitonaks not only slammed through the door, but broke down the walls on either side of the entryway and went lumbering and slipping up the corridor in the direction of the shuttle decks.
Luke cast his mind ahead, visualizing every carefully memorized foot of the corridors, gangway, elevator shaft between the Portside Section Lounge and the Deck 16 shuttle-hangar, superheating the thin layer of air at the top of the hallways to fire the sprinklers along the way.

I am beginning to think that the ability to alter the environment is a base Force power, at least to a point. Tahiri altered the air to indirectly hurt Yuuzhan Vong while she was captured (Edge of Victory I: Conquest), and she was still only 14 years old and still studying at the Praxeum. Wasn't really TK; she appeared to change the pressure in the air in the room. It actually makes perfect sense; the Force binds all life together. It's only natural that users could be capable of harnessing that power.

I'd like to hear your opinion on this: exactly when does Star Wars take place? We all know of the "A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away..." part, but that does not mean it takes place "now." Perhaps it's from the perspective of somebody living after the events, but Star Wars itself is still in the future. The "storyteller" is in the future. You've heard me talk about Alien Exodus; now I know it's non-canon, since it was never made, but still.

I'm having my character be born in 3,970 BBY. Old Republic Era if am right. Question. From this point, do the years go up or down as time passes?

I hardly know anything about SW. So I know am going to get things wrong and some things very wrong. I'm just going to revolve around a few events that I know and tell my character's story.

Down. Smaller the number, the closer it is to the Battle of Yavin. Episode III takes place in 19 BBY. After Episode IV, the numbers go up. It's at the end of Episode IV that it becomes ABY.

Read Tales of the Jedi. Rather interesting. Sure, the tech isn't too much worse than the movies, but there are differences.

Hm. Never thought of that, and that could very well be. I remember Leia has started candle fires before using the Force (not that there is anything particularly impressive about that, but it is a small demonstration of a comparable power). Now, it could be argued that that was Pryokinesis instead of Alter Environment, but I question that heavily, mainly because Pyrokinesis is such a rare power. What you described could very well be true.

It could be that it took place a long time ago from out time, but they started much sooner than we did. Their history started before ours did, and as a result, their growth and advancement has taken place before ours did. It could also be that they are at the same time. There are planets in Star Wars that, despite how developed technology and cultures are in many sectors, are very primitive and young. It could just be a strange analogy that ours is not entirely as developed but not completely new either.

That is a good question though.

What JediXMan said. TotJ presented technology that was significantly more ancient in appearance and some even in application (see Protosabers).

That is a good question though.

I had forgotten: what was your opinion of the Alien Exodus concept? Yeah, controversial, which is why it was never made, but I would have liked it.
