They're not really scary to me, but I know they're classified as horror to some: -28 Days Later -The Mist -Alien(s)

Funny thing about the Mist, I watched it when it came out in American, well at least when it came out on DVD and it only came out over here not too long ago. I was like, wtf? I've already seen it.

I prefer Aliens to the previous. Alien was a horror film, the others sci-fi films so I don't see them in the same regard.

I prefer Aliens to the previous. I do as well, but it's worth a mention.

I guess, but it could be in the "Thriller" type horror. Or even a near the point of a Sci-fi horror.

I enjoy J-Horrors. Mostly because my favourite horrors to watch tend have ghosts in.
Grudge 1 Grudge 2 Darkness Falls Echo (you should see, it'll be hard to find though. I don't think it was distrusted well) One Missed Call

The first Grudge was solid, but I haven't seen the second. I didn't like Darkness Falls at all. It spiraled downhill pretty quickly and the sister being like 25 years older than her brother was kind of laughable. One Missed Call was one of the worst horror films I've seen over the past five years or so. Not to put it down or anything, but I really thought it was awful.

I tend to lean towards the classics, specificly the Universal Monster flicks of the 1930s and 1940s

I saw the first Open Water again last night. The more I see it, the more I respect it. The sequel was garbage to the third power, though.

Yeah, The Box was very clever. Wouldn't really categorize that as a horror film, though.
Jeepers Creepers I is another one of my favorites.

I'm a big fan of Alien. That movie has my favourite jump-scare, ever (the vents), plus, I mean, if I hadn't known anything about the xenomorphs before I saw it, that movie probably would have blown my fucking mind. The villain changes! Several times! And it's in space! Awesome.
I also dig the original Halloween. It's really economical, and I appreciate how it's shot and the weird sense of mystery surrounding Michael Myers/The Shape - why is he doing what he's doing? I guess he's crazy, and by the end you don't even know, man. You don't even know.
Evil Dead II is another great one. That movie is fantastically, wonderfully cheesy but it's also pretty creepy and odd at times and has some genuinely good jump scares. And Bruce Campbell is unforgettable.
Probably my favourite recent horror film is 1408. John Cusack is really fantastic in that movie and it's got a unending sense of dread that I really dig, as well as some cool scares. Both endings are really great and satisfying, too, which is more than I can say for most horror movies that generally ram a dumb twist at the end that makes the preceding action totally pointless (hey there, every Final Destination movie).
I also liked another Stephen King adaptation, The Mist, but fuck that ending was dumb. I used to think it was really bold and great, but after thinking about it more I just hate it. The rest of the movie is ace, though, with some really great monsters and a good balance between the horror out there and the horror inside the market.

On, and the Last Exorcism and both Paranormal Activity movies were pretty good too. Though the former really squanders it's potential with a dumb twist ending that I hated and the latter films have bouts of really stupid characters that makes it hard to care sometimes.
