If you were a writer, how would you prefer to write your fights? Would you try to keep them even just to be interesting, even though according to powers, the one character should have the edge, or would you just make it more real and the person with the superior powers should have the clear edge?

You never dismiss power levels or how the characters act. That's why we call it bad writing when that happens. If you want to make what is clearly an unfair match take place, you either have it shown as such, or you have it happen in a manner that will allow the lesser to overcome or survive (plot factors, environment, etc).

If there is a difference in power, and the reader knows that A should beat B fairly easy, however A has to win. Create an intelligent reason why he would win. Through wit, cunning etc. No he was blind for a moment making me be able to capitalise. Or some shit like that.

When i write a fight I always think about how powers are used and what affect they can have as opposed to who has what. My characters are Wave Functionary beings like the Endless or the Darkness used to a higher capacity. I personally don't like to say if this person has a and b power he can beat guy with c power. If can't use it as well then he's screwed case closed, with out PIS of course.

I'd make it realistic. The more powerful/more skillful guy wins. Though occasionally the environment may play a role. But yeah, in my world, Batman's not beating Superman.

Deadpool vs Taskmaster
DP: I'm crazy and unpredictable you don't stand a chance, hohoho TM: Yeah, no.
Taskmaster chops his head off and uses it as a baseball. Fight over.

If I were to do a battle in space I will make sure they know that there is no sound there. No one can breathe in it. And no one can talk in space.

Batman has those psuedo glorious moments because he's DC's most profitable character. Him beating Superman would be like Spiderman beating Firelord. If I were to do a battle in space I will make sure they know that there is no sound there. No one can breathe in it. And no one can talk in space. Or fire. Unless it's magical or generated by a Lantern.

Interesting stuff. I basically agree with K4tz and TM. If i'm going to let the inferior opponent to win, it should be under conditions that would favor him and not because of stupid reasons. @morph: LOL!

Well, those who can fight in space can generally breathe in space. And some can talk in space (Lanterns, for example) Lanterns have GL to protect them from Vacuum. So that's their reason.
It's impossible to breathe in space. So whatever writers have people speaking in space need to re take their science exams. Try speaking while swallowing. That's what it'll be like but harder.

How I write fights depends largely on the style and theme of the stories I'm writing. But generally speaking, bloody gritty and violent is how they are in my stories. This often makes them short and brutal.
If something with human level attributes is fighting something completely out of it's league physically. Then that thing crushes the human like an ant within moments. No heroics, nothing like that it cheapens the story and it's insulting our intelligence.
yes the 6 year old fighting an enraged grizzly bear gets torn to shreds and it's disgusting and quick. It's a fucking enraged grizzly bear againt a 6 years old
