I thought we had discussed Ostrander's Spectre, and you knew my affection for the character already? I was referring to the fact that you put him so low. and to the fact that you put Spider-Man above, y'know, MORPHEUS!

Ah, that explains it.
Spider-Man was my favourite as a kid, and he remains such. I doubt I could ever replace him.

Wow k4tz, it didn't take you long to jump on the Flash Thompson bandwagon. You already like him better than Brock? On a side note, I caught up on the back issues and just read #4 today. It's legit. Brock is on the villains list. And I'm not a big fan of the Flash series, but I really like the character and the potential.

On the subject of Waid, I have said it before; I'll say it again. If it was up to me, Mark Waid and Grant Morrison would write everything in DC. Everything??? No room for John Ostrander, Paul Kupperberg, Marv Wolfman, Roy Thomas (OK he's getting on but still a great writer, maybe for the occasional mini - when he wrote Thor it was awesome as was Conan and I won't even start on his GA character work ), J M Dematteis, Alan Grant, Mike Grell, Frank Miller??? Now IMHO those 10 (with maybe Johns on certain projects where he can't stuff it with retcons) would make a perfect talent pool for any comic publisher. Dont forget Dixon.

1.) Nightwing 2.) Roy Harper (before he became a cat killing Junkie...good move on that one DC) 3.) Bart Allen 4.) Jay Garrick. 5.) Cap 6.) Sinestro (He was a hero...don't start with me ) 7.) Ironman (Again don't start with me) 8.) Nick Fury 9.) Ollie Queen 10.) Night Clawer. This is only my Marvel DC list...can we do vertigo and such like.

Complete re-boot. 1. Deadpool (pre-current) 2. Gambit 3. Moon Knight (pre-current) 4. Ultimate Captain America 5. Punisher 6. Ultimate Hawkeye 7. Spider-Man 8. Batman (Bruce Wayne) 9. Jason Todd 10. Venom (Flash Thompson) Close, but no cigar: Cyclops Nightwing Beast Cardiac Deathlok (Collins) I thought Beast and Cyke would have made the cut. I presume Ultimate Cap is only the Millar version, too.

I respect both a great deal, but in the end I'd rather read material with those characters by a fraction of a hair.
Yes, Ultimate Cap under Millar is certainly the most entertaining. I believe my thoughts on Aaron's Cap are quite transparent, lol.

I didn't know you liked Ult Hawkeye that much, either. I presumed I was his greatest fan all around.
Millar's Ult Cap is awesome. It's the overall writing of the character in very recent years that prevented me from including him in my nominations.

I was never vocal about it, but I thought Ultimate Hawkeye was easily one of the highlights of Millar's run. And don't sue me, but I like the direction Loeb INTENDED to take him after the events of Vol 2.

The direction where he can't hit a target 50 feet long from 1 yard's distance?

For me, I'd have the writers you said, Greg Rucka, Ed Brubaker and Bill Willingham.

It's enjoyable, but I want so much more development. I never thought I'd say it, but I don't really care about the action. That should be secondary with all the potential facing Flash, instead the development appears secondary to the action.

K4tz tries to resist the urge of posting "I don't like heroes, just the guys who beat them up".I think it's great, but I liked JPV's costume even more. Do you mean the red-gold costume?

Azrael's Red/Gold costume is awesome.

@ Devias - Indeed. The classic Red and Gold. He's had a few other good ones (and several poorly conceived, as well), but the classic Azrael costume was just great.
