After the breaking news TwitchFilm brought us that Marvel Studios was moving ahead with a Doctor Strange film, they have now been told by sources that Marvel Studios has decided to get a 'Guardians of the Galaxy' movie in development. Now keep in mind, both of these have not been confirmed yet, but here is what twitch had to say:

Was this the series you wanted into a film? Or something else?

I'd rather get an Annihilation film (or films) instead of GotG, even though the latter is admittedly far easier to do.

Annihilation, that was the one I was thinking of.
Still on the must read list.

Give me Drax and I'll watch it.
Okay, you caught me. If it's Marvel Studios, I'll watch it regardless. But Drax would be nice...lol

Was this the series you wanted into a film? Or something else? I would love a Nova film, and also an Annihilation (most likely trilogy). I really liked DnA's GotG series so this could be cool. I can't wait to see Drax though. He is such a damn bad ass, love that guy. And yeah, Annihilation is a must read.

I only hope Marvel Studios doesn't get ahead of itself by adding too much on its plate and distributing films to less qualified creative teams.

Doctor Strange and GotG are going to need some really good and passionate writers and directors who are well suited for this genre, because they could easily go wrong. I guess you can say that about any CBM, or movie in general, but yeah.

I know next to nothing about GotG, but if it's Marvel Studios then I'M IN.

Ah, this better be as good as everything else. If it's not, I'll start my own Annihilation Conquest. Either way, I'm glad for this. It definitely explains why Nova and Rocky made it into the Ultimate Marvel 3. This, and I hear talk of the Guardians playing a major role in season 2 of Earth's Mightiest Heroes. I think it's a good time to be a cosmic fan.

You're just sore because everyone and their mother will get a film before the New Gods do.

You're just sore because everyone and their mother will get a film before the New Gods do. Nah (well, yes, but that's not the point here), but I honestly never would have guessed a GoG movie would be their next stop. I mean, it seems like there is far too many things to establish for it to actually work. I'd love to see this movie work, but I'll be really surprised if that happens nonetheless.

I agree it's rather difficult to do. Both a GotG and an Annihilation film would work better with the route Marvel has taken for the Avengers - a solo film to establish most of the main players with a lead for the eventual team-up. The problem being, none of the Guardians (except, perhaps, Adam Warlock) can sustain a solo film.

I suspect this will result in altering the past s of most, if not all the guardians in order to make them fit together as much as possible. ... Which may or may not work, depending on how they pull it off. HAPPY THOUGHTS! HAPPY THOUGHTS!!!!!

Lol. Phyla-Vell does indeed suck.
As phantom has been getting at, I'm surprised this will be Marvel Studios' next step as well. It is certainly an ambitious project, and would hate to see the formula of:
-get to know everybody separately for the first act of the film -get everybody to know each other for the second act of the film -finally become a team and fight evil for the third act of the film
morph- It's true, none could sustain a solo film, perhaps POSSIBLY Adam Warlock and Drax (Drax is going to be a tough look to pull off regardless so yeah). Hopefully they can do Drax like the Frost Giants and Red Skull. I trust.

I thought about Drax. Yeah, in second thought, he could be a formidable protagonist, too.
