Carnage doesn't have 100 ton strength like the Thing does. Covering him would be like covering you in Nickelodeon Slime, sure it sucks but it does not have the strength to constrict your movements. Unless it can penetrate his shell, Carnage should not be able to in any way manipulate the Thing.
The Symbiote is nothing more than a parasite, his Healing Factor should recognize that and reject it.
