Greetings all. Recently I have talked with several other fans of Iron Fist and for everything that we did not agree on, we are all of the opinion that Danny Rand has been severely underwritten lately, compared with the feats he regularly accomplished when the Immortal Iron Fit was still a regular series. I'm looking for some discussion on the matter.

I'm not much of an expert in this area, but interested to hear what there is to be said.

He's being down played to fit in with other street levelers.

Yeah, he should be punking Daredevil in Shadowland imo. But I guess we don't know how powerful the 'Beast of the Hand' is.

While this is true, the fact that Danny was smacked around alongside Shang-Chi peeved me. It seemed to insinuate that the two of them were even remotely close in power levels. I don't care how strong possessed DD is, he shouldn't have managed things that easily unless this is some kind of crazy Ghost Rider thing. Which, granted, it might be.

After all, he seems basically immune to physical damage. Wolverine stabbed him in the chest. The result? A bitch slap from Daredevil sending him across the room ;D

Current Daredevil will duke it out with Ghost Rider in # 5. That's a long way from Danny's league.

That being said, I wouldn't worry too much. I'll be more concerned if he gets downplayed in a an on-going in which he is set to appear regularly (such as the upcoming Heroes for Hire).

Heh, I remember when Shadowland was first starting and we were all like "What the hell is Ghost Rider doing here? He's not seriously going to spend the whole thing fighting Daredevil?" And now we know...

I think that comic writers should start consulting fan sites like us about some of the stuff they write. Half the time, it seems like we know more than they do about what feats fit consistantly with a character's history. We are the denizens of the Battles forum. Understanding powers and capabilities is what we do.

Well to be fair, DD didn't come close to smacking Danny around like he did to Shang-Chi (who he utterly embarrassed). Danny easily blocked DD's first two attacks, then got hit by a kick. After that, we see DD lunge at Danny, but we don't know what happens since Spidey swooped in with an attack. Besides, I don't think Danny really wanted to fight DD (as he did say, he was very reluctant), and actually didn't even attack him. Aside from this, Idk what else he has been in. I have read all of the New Avengers, but don't really recall him fighting. It was very cool though when he was transported to the other realm, and (I forget who it was) said any normal human would be disintegrated or dead, but Danny is different because his Chi is so powerful and he is protected by it. I'm really looking forward to the upcoming Heroes For Hire though and hope he is a main player. Hopefully he is written up to his Immortal Iron Fist standards there.

Very excited about that. Let's hope it's not just a mini.

If it's just a mini I'll be very, very pissed off. And it better be with a good writer and artist. Get brubaker and Aja on that

I'm more so hoping for the best, but expecting the worst. But even with that attitude on my part, it's very difficult for them to make an announcement of a simple mini nearly 6 months before publication. It seems they are really trying to hype this, so it should stand to reason it's an on-going.
Maybe Spencer (War Machine writer) will be the one. He's shown a great interest in IF and the IMW.

I'll jump on this should it have a good creative team.
