I'm writing "Best Bounty Hunters" this week and wanted to see who you guys love. Fret not, my 11 are already picked and I'll reveal them when the article goes live. It's only fitting I listen to MC Chris during this... mcchris.com/music.phpFett's Vette Dengar's Dumptruck Bossk on a Segway (personal favorite) IG-88's 57 Chevy

You know I'm sure I've talked about this before, but I still don't understand why Boba Fett is so popular.

It's all about the looks, man. He "looks" awesome, despite not doing jack or even proving to be effective in Empire. Thankfully, there was enough interest that it generated all of the awesome expanded material.

Yeah, I can understand why he's popular now, after what, 30 years of material behind him? But in the original movies the guy was a third string character who basically did nothing and then died a punk death. And that was enough to somehow warrant a resurrection which catapulted him into the ultimate badass bounty hunter territory. I mean I can understand the looks argument, but he never really looked all that special to me. I don't know, maybe because nearly every scene he has in Empire has him opposite Darth Freaking Vader. And lets face it, you just can't outshine that guy.

Well, WAS he that popular when the franchise was still fresh? I don't know, man, seeing as I was born in 85 and didn't see Star Wars until my early teens. Frankly, I'm too lazy to research when exactly his popularity boosted (although I imagine if it did at that time it was because he first appeared in the cartoon and was an awesome collectible toy).

That's part of my point. If he wasn't already somewhat popular, he wouldn't have warranted a resurrection. After all, who would go to trouble of bringing back a nobody?

Well, an equally interesting question was why was his character picked for one of those toys early on? They put a good amount of time into his design, but his treatment in those films were lackluster at best.
SHOULD I LIKE HIM OR NOT, DAMN IT?!

Clearly the only reasonable explanation is that George Lucas is a time traveler. Search your feelings, you know it to be true.

I just imagined George Lucas playing as Marty McFly.

I imagine him more as a Doc Brown kind of dude myself.
