TBH I wasn't. This season has done a great job developing and diving into characters. We've seen that at his core, House really isn't THAT bad of a guy, and I think through the episode they made it obvious he legitimately cares for 13's well being. It just took him awhile to really express it, not to mention he was likely depressed due to the day being what would have been his anniversary.
The potato gun stuff was hilarious.
