Yeah, it's pretty good despite what I've heard. So far, anyway. I'm at the part where he handles the dirty money operation. But... but really. Spacker Dave, Mr. Bumpo, and Joan are NOTHING like their comic book counterparts (the exceptions being that Spacker Dave has his piercings and Bumpo is fat (not fat enough IMO ;p)), the apparently meant-to-be-heartwarming moment with the skull t-shirt was outright creepy (HEY PA! THIS IS MY WAY OF SAYING I'LL BE A GOTH KID ONE DAY! ), and ETC.... The 2008 movie wasn't that much better. At least it was satisfying when it came to watching scumbags die.

I'm really looking forward to the upcoming Rucka/Checchetto Punisher.

Is anyone following the new run? I'm wondering if it's worth picking up.

I've read the first 3 issues of the new run and I've been really impressed so far. It's like a classic sort of Punisher thing but it gets interesting really quick with the appearance of a semi-well known Spider-Man villain.
I'll definitely keep picking it up.

Glad someone has read it.
So the fight with (insert flying villain here) is brutal, eh?

Yeah, very messy. It's actually one of the better fights I've seen in comics and you really don't know which way it's going to go. I won't spoil because I'm sure you'll like it.

So I read Punisher #1 earlier today. It wasn't bad, but at the same time it's too....familiar. I know that's a tough thing to say after such a drastic (and negative) change like Frankencastle, but going back to gritty gang crime and cooperating with a rookie detective formula is just stuff we've already seen before. It's certainly not bad and it's pretty well written (and the art fits the style perfectly), but I feel like I've seen this too many times before. Regardless, I still need to read #2 and #3, so I'll see how that goes.

Thanks for the mini-review. Curious to see if anything changes after you get through #2 and #3.

How much can you do with a guy who just kills people? It's gotta get old sometime...

Thank you, my friend! Inquiring minds want to know! Definitely. I'm excited to get to #3 because he's facing a certain....aerial...Spider-Man villain. So, it'll be cool to see how that plays out.

Alright, just read #2 and #3. Good stuff, but my complaints from the first issue remain. Despite being a 'Punisher' title, he's had maybe 5 words at most so far (in all 3 issues). The time is really split between the detectives and reporter fleshing out the plot, while Punisher acts like a silent killing machine as he hunts down gangs responsible for the events of issue 1. Thankfully, it seems like Punisher will actually get some dialogue in the next issue. Because as of right now, I don't real care about the pov from the authorities and reporter. This is a Punisher title, I'd like for him to have the majority of dialogue and panel time.
Oh, and the fight against a Spider-Foe (alright screw it, the cover shows him...it's the new Vulture) is pretty good.

I should also add it's more-or-less confirmed Daredevil and Punisher will be at odds (yet again) sometime in the future. The editior column had a remark that Rucka and Waid (current DD writer) had a dinner together to chat about their titles.

This isn't really news or anything but I hate all the Punisher fans on Comicvine.
