As you all are probably aware, Marvel Studios' 'The Avengers' will be hitting theaters May 4, 2012. Since the time of this official announcement, some news has surfaced regarding who the actual members of the Avengers will be. As we witnessed at Comic-Con San Diego 2010, the members will be (as of now): Thor (Hemsworth), Captain America (Evans), Iron Man (Downey Jr.), Hulk (Ruffalo), Hawkeye (Renner), and Black Widow (Johansson). Nick Fury (Jackson) and Agent Coulson (Gregg) will also be appearing, in addition to others not yet named. Both Kevin Feige and Joss Wedon (director) have said that Ant-Man and Wasp will not be making an appearance in the film. But, the interesting point is that neither have stated that their alter-ego counter parts Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne would not be making an appearance in the movie. Now, recently, thanks to Pietro Filipponi at Daily BLAM!, we have some new information regarding Ant-Man and Wasp in 'The Avengers.' This comes from last week's Production Weekly. Also note that Don Cheadle (War Machine), is supposedly set to appear as well, although he may not appear as War Machine. Do not take this as 100% fact, at this point it is an unconfirmed rumor, but what do you think about all this? Should Ant-Man and Wasp be in the movie? Are you fine with Hank and Jan just making cameo's as scientists? Who do you think should appear in 'The Avengers'? Spill your thoughts below.

On one hand Hank is awesome, on the other they'd probably just have him hit his wife and be a bad hero.

Honestly, I'm okay with them just being involved scientists, and perhaps throwing hits to what they'll become. Things never seem to turn out well when too many characters are involved.

@sarda- Lol. Honestly, I'm okay with them just being involved scientists, and perhaps throwing hits to what they'll become. Things never seem to turn out well when too many characters are involved. I agree with this. I'm not a rabid fan of either character or someone who illogically thinks this movie will suck if the original team isn't in the movie. The big 3 are in it, and that's what should matter the most, roster wise anyways. k4tz, I agree that the super hero movies so far with tons of characters have not been that good (SM3, XMen3), but this is Marvel Studios. It is different from Fox Studios. I have infinitely more faith in Marvel to make a hugely successful ensemble movie than any other studio at this point.

"but this is Marvel Studios." Most certainly. They've more than delivered on each film so far, so I have confidence it could be done extremely well, despite the large size of the roster. That said, I share your opinion of "It already has the biggest heroes, and I'm happy with that." I still wonder how Hulk will be incorporated. I wonder if they'll take elements from the Ultimates for that aspect. I'm still rooting for Clint Barton to be more like his ultimate counter-part. The costume will work well on screen and he's a total bamf, lol

Haha, yeah I agree it should be Ultimate Barton, at least costume wise. I haven't really read the Ultimates, but I have some comics I haven't cracked yet. I actually read the first issue of Ultimate Avengers, where Hawkeye jumps out of the helicopter to save Cap from exploding on the sidewalk below. That was awesome stuff. If he's doing stuff like that in the movie, I'm all for it.
Yeah...there's been a lot of rumors as to what Hulk's role will be in the movie, as well as what the villain may be. Personally, I hope they don't play Hulk off as a villain, but maybe being controlled by Loki, or possibly, Avengers fighting Hulk because of a misunderstanding, them teaming up against a larger villain. But I hope it is not the Skrulls. I wouldn't mind seeing Loki and Red Skull team up though!

"I haven't really read the Ultimates" *spits drink* Volume 1 and 2 are must reads, IMHO.
