I have decided in my infinite wisdom that I will impart a little bit of my musical knowledge upon you all by once a week sharing a favorite artist and putting them in the spotlight and up for discussion. I will begin with some videos of said artist for you all to enjoy and maybe write a few words about them and such. For example this will be my first edition....
I have decided for my first musical artist of the week that I would use possibly my favorite artist of all time, the man who owns 14 out of 20 spots at the top of my most played list on iTunes, JOSH RITTER.
Josh Ritter's music can be defined in a number of ways. Folk, rock, Americana, singer-songwriter, and alternative country are just a few terms that have been used to describe his sound. A brilliant songwriter, he has often been compared to the likes of Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, Bruce Springsteen, Leonard Cohen and even Johnny Cash though I don't really see that one. Josh Ritter is exactly what an artist should be: musically talented, energetic and exciting, completely passionate about his music, and brilliant lyrically.
Please let me know what you guys think. And don't worry I'm open to negative opinions as well. HaterZ welcome .

It's catchy, but it's nothing something I'd ever really listen to on my own. Not big on the 'folk' genre.

Haha well thanx at least for taking the time to make a post I appreciate....I figured maybe nobody would like him, it's not a popular genre really, but how could I start off with anyone else? He owns my iTunes, 14 out of the 20 top played songs are his lol. It would be egregious to start it off with someone else. Next week will hopefully be more popular.

You don't need to put someone popular. Put up what you like. Expand the musical tastes of this forum. I was actually half thinking of doin' a thread like this too with my crazy metal music that probably no one would be interested in. Anyway, this guy is definitely nice. I can definitely get in it. Very enjoyable. Any particular albums you'd be willing to recommend?

Thanx It's good to see people willing to expand their horizons. As for any albums, that's a tricky question. I love all of his work, and most of my favorite songs of his can change with my mood and are sprinkled throughout his work. I must say to avoid his self-titled album and "Golden Age of Radio" at least until you've checked out all his other stuff. I would begin with "The Historical Conquests of Josh Ritter" and "The Animal Years". "So Runs the World Away" is also brilliant and is his latest work though it seems to have a little different sound to it. I'm trying to think of who to do for this week, so many choices. I want to pick one that might garner this thread a little attention.

Who's got two thumbs and has tickets to go see A Day To Remember on March 16th in Pittsburgh with the girl of his dreams? This guy does, and in celebration of this occasion I have chosen them as the artist I am going to spotlight this week. Yes, I know it hasn't been a full week since the last, but the week has changed and there was no discussion so hopefully this energizes the thread a bit.
I don't know how much you guys know about ADTR or how much you have heard of them, but they are without a doubt one of my favorite bands and definately worth checking out. I guess all I can do is put some videos out there and see what you guys think. I like to think of them as New Found Glory on Steroids lol.
Start off with one of their new tunes. I love it.
Good classic ADTR tune. Love the chant towards the end. Hilarious video btw lol.
Unfortunately i could find any older songs actually with videos, so I had to settle for this one.
And lastly lets slow it down. Beautiful song IMO.
If i don't hear some feedback i am going to punch you all in the heads. If for nothing else watch the one video to see Ron Jeremy teaching how to mosh lol.....

Oh snap, A Day to Remember. So this is what that band sounds like. I've heard a couple of people say some good things about this band. Haven't really looked into them, but I'm interested. I know bands like this, and it's definitely a style I can dig.

It seems ADTR has spread a lot by word of mouth. I never had heard of them and all of the sudden a few friends told me about them. It's a year later and everyone and their sister loves them lol. Literally everyone I know wants to go see them now lol.

I just wanted to say thanks for making this thread, Luna. I've been listening to ADR songs at work all day. "You Be Tails, I'll Be Sonic" is simply amazing.

Alright it's been close enough to a week that I feel it's time to post my next artist of the week. I was going to go a different direction this next week, however it's just been an Alkaline Trio week and I can't think of a better reason to pick someone else. Alkaline Trio has been around for quite some time and I think many of you may be familiar with them. I know I've been listening to their music since middle school and I've always considered them an exceptionally enjoyable band. Some people may find their music a bit depressing or pessimistic, but I find it soothing somehow. Literally i had the hardest time picking just 5 songs to post because Alkaline Trio just doesn't make much bad music, they have so much amazing music. Sucks I can't find many good Alkaline Trio videos on Youtube :/ Anyways feel free to discuss gentlemen and ladies!
Just for Valentines Day....
