According to IGN, the latest host for the Venom symbiote is FLASH THOMPSON! 'Puny' Parker's old high school bully who's now a US veteran will wear the symbiote part time for military operations. Bonding with the symbiote in a part time basis is their attempt to use it for its many powers, but to also prevent the symbiote from forming too great of a bond with the host...Which would in turn, make Flash crave brains and want to rip Spider-Man apart. So, sound off Ledgers! How do you feel about the lastest twist for the Venom symbiote and will you read the run? His reaction to finding out Peter is actually S--oh wait, OMD probably retconned the symbiote knowing, right?

Flash Tompson as Venom is fucking retarded.
I would have preferred some random person that Spider-Man doesn't know.

I always dislike when they use side characters a villains. I find it retarded. :I You can ignore my complaints, they're baseless in the long run.

Why does everything in comics have to be so predictable and gimmicky?

I didn't see a single person suggest it was Flash. Everyone was under the impression it would be Parker's former roommate. But now that we know, I guess you all were just keeping your best guess to yourselves, eh?

I kept pointing out it couldn't be Vin.

"I kept pointing out it couldn't be Vin." Indeed, but you're not the only one. Plenty of other people I spoke with speculated the same. He seemed like the logic choice.

I think Flash is by far a superior choice, though. Readers have invested emotionally with him (an entire issue focused on him a while back), while Vin is nothing more than an imbecilic Gobiln acolyte nobody cares about, at this point.

What I think will make this relationship especially interesting is how the power will go to Flash's head. Not only will it bring back the ability of his 'legs,' but he'll be more powerful than ever. I wonder how quickly that will go to his head and he'll attempt to break the limited use of the symbiote, under the impression he can be the dominate one in the bond.

I agree, Remender proved he can handle internal conflict well, in a very similar way (with Warren/Archangel, in Uncanny X-Force), so in combination to the the fact that Venom also happens to be one of Spidey's most lethal enemies, yet Flash is one of his most avid admirers, it has the potential for good stories in the long run. It's good to see pretty much all of these aspects noted in the interview, too.

For a lack of better words, indeed. I'm really excited to review this series. The icing on the cake--- SERGEI GODDAMN KRAVINOFF.

Still do not really care. BUT I must admit that the new take on Venom is infinitely more interesting than I ever thought of any previous incarnation.
I do however, predict that within the first or second story arc, something will go wrong and Flash will be bonded on a more permanent basis like Gargan and Brock. That is assuming that Flash's version is popular enough to win some fans. Once that happens, we will have our new Spider-Man villain.
