So Ron Marz is attached officially to Witchblade until issue 150 officially. Well, we have the Artifacts crossover and the other minis. But Witchblade itself is already down to issue 137.
Guess this is just me sort of worried for the Future. Many people say Ron Marz saved Witchblade (while I don't think this was necessarily the case as I like what came before).
But I agree totally that he really made the series better and he's to credit to how good it's become. But if he doesn't sign in for 150 more. I'm just worried whoever will come after won't have the talent to keep up all the work Marz put in.
Been burned by comic companies too many times and I don't want to be burned by my favorite american series too...

Truth be told, I have only been reading Witchblade strictly when it crosses over with the Darkness thus far (I'm near the end of Darkness vol. 1), but I've heard good things about Marz's run. I already know Marz can write powerful characters well (he did write one of my favourites, Silver Surfer, for a long time, after all), so I'll give it a shot when the time comes. For some reason I'm hyped about events like Broken Trinity, First Born, and Artifacts, even though I don't know what they're about just yet. If that makes sense, of course.

Broken Trinity and First Born were awesome. Artifacts is also very good so far. And that's why I'm worried. Who could keep up the quality Ron Marz put out? On a related note. I'm of the opinion that between the Darkness and Witchblade. Witchblade is the superior series in overall quality. Thought the Darkness is still a good series.

It's a common problem. Even more so in a company that is less well known than the two main ones. Is it announced that he won't be continuing, or his contract expires with # 150 and he has yet to renew it?
It's possible that I'll read Withcblade in its entirety in the future. But for now I enjoy Jackie's series a great deal, there's something strangely effective about his stories, and knowing there are still very good stories to come excites me even more.
Off topic, but one of the things I found cool is that his crossovers are canon for the most part. Darkness/Batman being instrumental for the character, for example.

It's a common problem. Even more so in a company that is less well known than the two main ones. Is it announced that he won't be continuing, or his contract expires with # 150 and he has yet to renew it? So far, all we know is that he is attached to write witchblade until issue 150. No other info. But reading his response to fan letters, interviews and messages gave me the impression he really loves writing witchblade. So who knows? All I can say is that if he does want to write more, they should let him. Off topic, but one of the things I found cool is that his crossovers are canon for the most part. Darkness/Batman being instrumental for the character, for example. [/i][/quote] I'm kind of iffy on their crossovers for my part. Mostly because their canonicity is very much open to question. A good example is the crossover between Marvel and Image where Mephisto traveled to the Image universe (this was during the time that Witchblade and the rest of Top cow was a core image imprint and not its own universe as a subsidiary of Image) My reason for this iffyness is that sometimes appears like a "no talk about issue" where their canonicity is not agreed upon depending on the author. Hence why the encounter with Batman appears to be canon as it was mentioned afterward. While the Marvel mega crossover (it was huge all of Image's flagship characters at that point were involved) seems to be regarded as non-canon go figure. This is why I tend to look askance of crossovers.

Hmm. At least there is still hope that he will continue. His stance is encouraging.
No argument there. Crossovers can be very tricky, and there is a reason why most of them are not considered part of the canon, but I thought it refreshing that a very crucial point of a character's history occurred in a crossover, with several references and impact build upon it afterwards. It's not something I expected to see I guess.

God knows with how screwed Jackie is, he needs a few good words of advice now and then. Not that it will change how doomed he is. But at least he'll go down fighting.

lol kinda late to say that look in the posts above your own dude Lol I moved them here because your thread kind of had an obscure title. Waiting for issue 150 does not really tell users what it is for.

guess you're right.
Thought I do hope Ron Marz signs up for another 150, he's done an awesome job with Witchblade, made it what it currently is when before that it had a lot of problems, even if I loved it.
Thought there were casualties in his arrival on the job...

Me too. I haven't read much Witchblade recently, and I'm thinkin' of goin' through the trades again. That's the one thing I love about trades. To me, they seem more inviting to reread over single issues.

Good, good. So you finished volume 10. That was from the older trades right? It had Witch Hunt?

Good, good. So you finished volume 10. That was from the older trades right? No it was the last trade that came out. The 10 trade called "Witchblade redemption: volume 2". It covers up to right after artifacts volume 1. The trades if you want every issue goes like this (by title): Witchblade Compendium volume 1 (issues 1-50) Witchblade compenidum volume 2 (issues 50-101) Witchblade volume 4 (issues 101-109) Witchblade volume 5 (issues 110-115) Witchblade volume 6 (issues 116-120) Witchblade volume 7 (121-124) Witchblade volume 8 (125-130) Witchblade Redemption Volume 1 (131-136) Witchblade Redemption Volume 2 (137-141) This effectively makes Redemption volume 1 and 2, volumes 9 and 10 as far as trades go. Redemption volume 2 is the last trade to have come out so far in the Witchblade series.
