"So...A movie about marines fighting against an invading alien force isn't about an alien invasion....Care to explain on that one?"
I didn't say it wasn't... I said the alien invasion part was irelivent.... They could have been fighting Godzilla and it wouldn't have made a difference... But now that you mention it... No it wasn't an alian invasion movie... It was a war movie. It wasn't about an invasion it was about a battle... The aliens were just there to be blown up.. It wasn't about them invading earth..
It would be like calling batman begins and the dark knight mob movies... The mob is just there for batman to beat the shit out of... Doesn't make them mob movie..
P.s.. The batman movies have actual story lines... I'm not making a comparison... Just an example.

"didn't say it wasn't... I said the alien invasion part was irelivent...." Aliens invading was the entire premise and purpose of everything going on...
"No it wasn't an alian invasion movie... It was a war movie." A movie can fall under multiple genres. It's a Black Hawk Down style approach to an alien invasion scenario. So it's both. To say it's NOT a movie about an alien invasion is just completely false.
"It wasn't about an invasion it was about a battle... The aliens were just there to be blown up.. It wasn't about them invading earth.." Despite it being revealed how they operate and what they're after.... It had just as much "depth" as Independence Day and War of the Worlds.
"It would be like calling batman begins and the dark knight mob movies... The mob is just there for batman to beat the shit out of... Doesn't make them mob movie.." That's not an accurate example at all in this case. No one goes into Batman expecting a massive emphasis on the mob-themed characters. This movie was about the aliens and the squad of marines combating them. It's really that simple. If you didn't enjoy it, you didn't enjoy it. You're allowed to have that opinion, but to say it's not an alien invasion movie is just downright incorrect. Could it have focused MORE on the aliens? Of course, but that doesn't mean it doesn't fall under the genre.

Distric 9 was awesome.. It had 3 things that battle la didn't... Character development, a story, and originality.
Exactly... When I go in to something being labeled as an alien invasion movie... I expect heavy emphases on alien invasion.... That didn't exist in this movie... The invasion didn't matter... There was no plot, no motive... Nothing... I want to say the alian invasion was just there to movie the war story along... But there really wasn't even a story

"Distric 9 was awesome.. It had 3 things that battle la didn't... Character development, a story, and originality." If you went into Battle: LA expecting excellent story telling, development, and originality, you wasted your money and clearly never even saw a trailer for the film.
"Exactly... When I go in to something being labeled as an alien invasion movie... I expect heavy emphases on alien invasion.... That didn't exist in this movie..." Yeah, no emphasis...It didn't reveal their technology, plans, biology, etc...Nothing along those lines....Except for, you know, revealing all of that.
" The invasion didn't matter... There was no plot, no motive... " Yes, it did. Just because you didn't like the movie doesn't mean you can be blind to the events that clearly unfolded.
:Nothing... I want to say the alian invasion was just there to movie the war story along... But there really wasn't even a story." No shit it was there to move the story along. That was the premise of the story. "Meet this squad of marines. Aliens invade. Follow the marines on their mission." If you expected MORE than that I have no idea why you spent money to see this.

Because I thought it was an alien invasion movie... But it ended up being a war movie... With nothing to care about.... I'm sure the movie was delightful for peole who think it's nifty for stuff to blow up and go boom... That isn't enough for me.... It's cool if it means something.

"Because I thought it was an alien invasion movie... " It is, it just focuses on the marine effort during the invasion. Doesn't mean it's not about the invasion, too. "But it ended up being a war movie... " Did you not watch a trailer or anything? It makes that extremely clear... "With nothing to care about.... " Matter of opinion. "I'm sure the movie was delightful for peole who think it's nifty for stuff to blow up and go boom..." Yes, I'm just an idiot who can't resist explosions. I just love everything with bullets flying and KA-BOOM effects. Or, I went into this movie knowing it was mindless popcorn entertainment, and enjoyed it for what it is. I went into this expecting entertaining battles between marines and aliens, and that's exactly what it delivered on. It also left things rather open-ended with quite a few things, so I'd like to see some expanded canon material. "That isn't enough for me.... It's cool if it means something." Like I said, if you saw a trailer it should have been more than clear this was a generic popcorn entertainment movie. Nothing about it screams originality or "hey, I'm going to be blown away by the script!" I'm a big sci-fi / alien invasion movie fan, but I knew to stay the fuck away from Skyline because: A) It looked like shit. B) It was reviewed like shit. C) After reading about it, I could tell it WAS shit. Maybe next time watch a trailer or do some research before expecting too much or something totally different

I think Dii and I can agree Gamer sucked major ass.
Seriously, he better at least agree with that because that film was pure shit.
I know I swore to never make fun of you again for liking it, but you forced to to share my feelings since you brought it up lol

I know because I ate popcorn while I watched it. Total "check your brain at the door" kind of movie but it delivered everything it promised to deliver.

Being a popcorn movie doesn't mean it's done well Battle: LA kept me entertained and enjoying it...Gamer had me facepalming and not really giving a flark about the action. But hey, it's best if we agree to never discuss Gamer again

Gerard Butler...Futuristic setting where video gamers control convicts in "shoot games." Win x amounts and they're(the prisoner) set free.

Gamer is not a "good" movie in the traditional sense of the word but they used an innovative new cinematography technology and I know that appeals to you Mr. Dii.
The camera used is the Red One by Red Digital Cinema Camera Company.
