Veteran actor Michael Gough, best known to us as Alfred from Tim Burton/Joel Schumacher Batman films, has passed away today at age of 94. Over his plentiful career, he has appeared in over a hundred films, achieving cult classic status for acting in numerous British horror films by Hammer Film productions, which dominated British horror genre at the time. After appearing in the Batman films, he has developed a working relationship with director Tim Burton, and has worked with him on his following films, Sleepy Hollow, Corpse Bride, and most recently in Alice in Wonderland, in which he had a voice role, despite being well into his nineties! Gough has also frequently appeared on TV and in theater, winning Broadway's TONY award in 1979, and a BAFTA TV award in 1957. He is survived by his fourth wife, Henrietta. We will always remember you as Alfred, Mr. Gough. R.I.P

This actually kind of sucks. He was the redeeming factor in Batman after Batnipples were introduced.

I am saddened that he died but the guy lived into his nineties so it is not like he went before his time. That is pretty damned lucky. I probably will not get even to half his life span.
But I will miss him not being in any more Burton movies.
