I think I'm going to test out a new segment I'm going to call 'bite the dust.' I'll pick two popular / well-known characters, and you'll pick one to die in their regular universe. Please state why you'd rather have your option die, and how you believe it should happen. And to answer your question, no, they will never be revived or come back.
So, who do you think should die and why? Wolverine or Spider-Man?

Both have died several times.
On the occasion that one should die and never return, I'd pick Spider-Man. Along with Captain America, even his peers regard him as the greatest hero of all. His death would shock and influence everyone else to follow his example and become even better.
Fighting against impossible odds to save innocents is the only way Spider-Man should, or would, ever go down.

"Both have died several times." Matters not! This is a "one and for all" death!
Interesting choice and reasoning.

I'm really surprised Marvel hasn't done it yet, to be honest.

Well, being the top selling title can do that to a man.

They could just as easily bring back Ben Reilly and kill off Pete for, say, a year.
Do you believe the sales would go anywhere but up?

I hate to go against what everyone expects me to say but I think it would be better if Wolverine died. Marvel is doing so much with him lately, yet not doing anything significant at all. His death would have a profound effect on more people in my opinion (all the X-Men plus all the various teams he is on), not the least of all his son and Laura.
It is apparent that Marvel has no intentions to bring Wolverine the master back into the game anyway. He is just the mutant punching bag that can be in several places at once. For me, the best way Wolverine could die is to come back to this realization that he is one of the best fighters on the planet and go down against impossible odds, finally at peace with himself (though he did get this inner peace at the end of Origins).
His permanent death could be used more as well. Daken would need a new direction in life and Laura would lose another person she really cares about.

Do you believe the sales would go anywhere but up? Actually, Kaine could in due time...

A good case can be done for both as to why they should die.

Actually, Kaine could in due time... Hmm?Take the protagonist role in a Spider-Man title. It would be an interesting twist on things, IMO. RE: Grim Hunt... SPOILERS IF YOU HAVEN'T READ IT He took a turn for the 'heroic' approach in the end and the "post issue" scene implied he's still alive.

It did far more than merely imply it, but his trasformation is unlikely to be benevolent in nature.
You're such a dreamer, K4tz. Marvel would be burned to the ground 10 minutes after the first solicitation if Kaine was to take over ASM. I can't say I'd like it, either.

"You're such a dreamer, K4tz. Marvel would be burned to the ground 10 minutes after the first solicitation if Kaine was to take over ASM. I can't say I'd like it, either." It's less likely than Gargan getting any respect, but it would be a twist I'd like to see. Not saying Kaine stuffs himself into the Spider-Man outfit, but to see him take center stage.

I'm thinking next I'll have Thor / Iron Man.

I could see that happening in some other title, but not Spider-Man's own.I'm thinking next I'll have Thor / Iron Man. Well, Thor did die pretty recently (and remained as such for a good three years), so we know what effect it would have both in and outside the Marvel Universe.
And almost everyone would be glad to see Tony die, honestly.

"Well, Thor did die pretty recently (and remained as such for a good three years), so we know what effect it would have both in and outside the Marvel Universe." The impact on the Marvel U isn't really the key part of this segment for me, though. It's more-so who everyone would pick, why, and how. Plenty of the choices will have already died, but let's pretend (key word, lol) that this is for good.
"And almost everyone would be glad to see Tony die, honestly." I guess we'll find out :X

I guess we'll find out :X The effect a character's death would have in the real world can be brought up as an appropriate justification concerning our motivation to choose him. With Thor, that is more clear cut since he died and stayed dead for a very big period of time. Considering Spider-Man, the X-Men, the Avengers, the Fantastic Four, Thor, Iron Man, the Hulk, Daredevil, and Captain America (hopefully I'm not forgetting anyone) are the select few that had books nearly from the start, and will always have one as long as Marvel exists, sidelining Thor for as long as they did, let the impact from his death die down, so we really know what a world without Thor looks like. Seems like a cheat is all I'm saying.

"The effect a character's death would have in the real world can be brought up as an appropriate justification concerning our motivation to choose him." Of course, but that's only part of the picture, IMHO. It doesn't make it any less important than the other factors I've included, but I'd like to see all of them addressed in reasoning. I understand what you're saying, but I'd still like to see how others feel
