Director Jon Chu says G.I. Joe 2 will make the follow up grittier and more realistic than the 2009 film, G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra.
The movie is still in the very easrly stages and no casting has been announced, but what would you like the see from the sequel? Do you want any of the cast to remain? Does the idea of it sounding more realistic and grittier sound like a good thing? Speak out!

I think the first film was gritty and realistic enough for GI Joe.
I want them to get rid of Channing Tatum. When he said ten hut in the first movie, it was the the wimpiest thing I have ever heard from a trained soldier. Most everyone else was reasonably good.
As for plot, I would like to see what Zartan does with control over the United States. I could see him declaring the Joes renegades and then them having to operate in stealth. Maybe they bring back Storm Shadow using that nanotech stuff, maybe turn him into Wraith. The Baroness should likely turn evil briefly and release Cobra Commander and Destro for the third movie.
There are many options for the next movie that could make it good.

DW, I completely agree regarding Channing Tatum. His performance completely lacked any emotion and just felt wooden.

I don't see how that guy keeps getting work. He is a very poor actor.

They're making a sequel? The first one was just crappy.

Getting rid of Tatum, and updating/retconning Cobra Commander. JGL did an excellent job with the role, but the character as written is simply not someone I see running a world terrorist organization.

I'm sorry, I didn't realize something being made about a toy line necessitated that it be corny and unrealistic. The "America's Elite" title under DDP made G.I. Joe more realistically grounded and gritty anf honestly it's easily the best, most emotional G.I. Joe title ever released. G.I. Joe doesn't have to be relegated to cartoonish pomp simply because the 80's Saturday Morning Cartoon was that way. I'd definitely like to see a Nolan-ization of the G.I. Joe movie universe following closely a story line from the America's Elite run. Cut back the cast and use mostly unknown actors/actresses with serious acting chops so that we can get some serious character development and have an emotional attachment to what is going on on-screen. To put it gently the first film was a steaming pile of refuse and rubbish. Give the team a more realistic military feel and for gods sake don't cast Channing Tatum. Furthermore every other role needs to be re-cast and the costumes need to be redesigned. As for plot all I can say is please stick to character canon. Don't change everything. Cobra Commander, Snake-Eyes, Storm Shadow, Stalker, Scarlett, Duke, etc all have emotionally compelling back stories if they cared to explore them. Make it come to life and not seem like a stiff cardboard fake. That's what I think they should do although personally I think a Snake-Eyes: Origins film would be far better anyways.

Just a few things I'd look for in a sequel (besides a better script):
1) More Snake-Eyes (so sue me, I'm a Snake-Eyes mark)
2) Lose the Scarlet/Ripcord budding romance - I'm an old school G.I. Joe fan (actually, a real old-school fan, like Aventure Team old). Scarlet and Snake-Eyes are the ones that kind of belong together.
3) New members

I don't think anyone will sue for wanting more Snake-Eyes. That seems to be what EVERYONE wants, lol

All i need is for Snake Eyes to play a central role in the film.

All I have to say is at least Larry Hama nixed the originally planned talking Snake-Eyes in the first film

I would like the sequel to completely disregard the first installment of the franchise. That would make me happy.

Dump Tatum and make it grittier and more realistic (read: "less camp").
I'd like to see a lot more characters too, like Shipwreck, Lady Jay, Flint, Wild Bill, Gung Ho and the Dreadnocks (they should remind me of The Tremors in Smokin' Aces).

I don't think they need to expand the cast. Just use better choices. Get rid of Ripcord, Heavy Duty, Breaker, Covergirl, and Sargaent Stone. Replace them with. Stalker, Roadblock, Flint, Lady Jaye, and Gung-Ho. And cast them with unknowns and write them dynamically, not flat. Storm Shadow needs to be completely reworked, Zartan given a bigger role, and the Dreadnoks added for good measure. The costume design in the first movie was horrendous and unnacceptable. Base them off this.

Oh I didn't necessarily mean keep all the original characters from ROC and add more. I'm ok with other characters being introduced and previous ones going by the wayside. Nobody really stood out to me for the Joe's as "must keep" except Snake Eyes.
I also wouldn't mind seeing Tomax and Xamot
