Gotta say, this was an interesting read. It's a story where absolutely nothing happens. Now, you may ask, "so why should I be interested?" And I'll probably respond, "wait that's not right, let me rephrase."
The truth of the matter is, quite honestly, nothing really spectacular happens at all. It's not just a street level story in the vein of Daredevil, Batman, or Moon Knight. There's not any real crime fighting or super hero-ing going on. That said, it's absolutely perfect.
It's your perfect slice of life kinda story. The protagonist is this girl who's very reserved, often keeps to herself, and she stays off to herself for really the entirety of the story. Sure, she will interact with others and all when the situation calls for it, but for the most part it's just her.
She's really into comics too. She's so far into it, that she's taken up patrolling her neighborhood in some vigilante getup. She's got the mask, she's got the hood, she's got the name, and seriously, throughout the whole thing, it's all about what she does as this vigilante, what she does as the Twilight Guardian.
Now again, not much really happens in the way of your typical vigilante on the loose. Most of the stuff she does is pretty mundane compared to smashing bad guy faces in or being a billionaire playboy, but everything behind her actions is what really catches my attention, and it's for that reason that this book is good enough for a solid read through. I personally wouldn't have chosen it to be that year's Pilot Season winner, but it was still good reading.
So what are your thoughts on it? How did you feel about the character, and what happened in the story, especially at the end? Let me hear your thoughts.
