A place to talk about all the creepy and weird stuff in the world, ranging from cryptozoology, ghosts etc.
To start it off.

I guess there are things out there that we don't know about.

I don't consider aliens as paranormal. Me too, but I was too lazy to think up a title that could encompass all of these sorts of things .....

There are things on Earth we don't know yet either.
I consider anything paranormal as in something that can't be scientifically explained. Aliens can be. I consider us exogenesis.

You have to be really naive to think there aren't any other beings out there.

You have to be really naive to think there aren't any other beings out there. Well around half the planet probably don't believe in aliens. There is 3.5 billion people. I'm a man of rationality, I find it hard to believe a man sits in the clouds.

It's just ridiculous to think that because the Universe is HUGE. I know a few small minded people. So I got a piece of A4 paper, drew a dot on it and said there is Earth, and drew a bid circle that almost took the whole page up and said that's the sun. I then drew a dot and said that's our solar system and drew the milky way and said that's our galaxy. I then drew another dot and said that's our galaxy and said to them that there is no amount of paper on earth that will cover the amount of space that's out there in the universe. They were impressed, and I think they're now a little more open-minded.

Anyone else get bugged by some of the "experts" that are brought out to debunk the paranormal?

Debunking is absolutely necessary when any cases of aledge paranormal show up.

Debunking is absolutely necessary when any cases of aledge paranormal show up. Yeah but when you watch that crap on television, they really ham it up both for and against supporting the case. I only like watching the documentary style videos because of this.

I'm all for debunking, but some of the "debunkers" take it to a close minded extreme. Cryptozoology claims often run into this stuff.

99% of claims are only credible to people who don't know enough about science. They ham it up sadly in TV shows. But most claims the masses find credible aren't really.

I will be the first person to say that the little glowy thing fluttering through the frame is either dust or a bug, but some of the things I have heard some of the "experts" claim as reasons why some cryptozoological creature could not possibly exist have been ridiculous.
Some examples: "If [name of creature] exists, why hasn't anyone seen one?" which discounts any eyewitness account. This statement is sometimes extended to photographic evidence, which gets blown out when you realize that it was only in the last decade that someone actually caught a giant squid on video.
"If [name of creature] was real, it would have evolved." which discounts creatures like the coelacanth, which have remained unchanged for eons.
"Nothing as big as [name of creature] could go unnoticed for so long." which again discounts eyewitness testimony, but is itself discounted by recent discoveries.

"If [name of creature] was real, it would have evolved." which discounts creatures like the coelacanth, which have remained unchanged for eons. I have never seen anyone claim this, and if someone did then he's an idiot. With that in mind, This is really not unreasonable. If you're claiming that something exists, you need to supply evidence for it if you want to be taken seriously. Eyewitnesses can be deceived or, more cynically, attention whores, and photographs and videos are in general muddled enough to be amazingly ambiguous. That kind of evidence would be smashed to pieces by any respectable scientific community on the planet.

Sadly, yes, there are those out there who will make a claim simply to get attention. But, it is scientificly irresponsible to rule out all evidence presented because of a few idiots who are desperate for attention.
