This is not a thread to bash the movie for differences in power sets from the comics or whether or not the movie was 100% canon compared to the comics. This is simply a thread for the Ledgers (that's us) to rank the performances of the actors and actresses and the characters they portrayed. I'll begin by highlighting the major characters and how well I thought they were brought to the proverbial silver screen.
-Magneto: (9.0) Nearly flawless performance, he was my personal highlight of the movie. -Professor X: (7.5) Good but not great IMO. -Emma Frost: (6.5) I was surprised she wasn't more involved. This affected my opinion of her. I definitely don't think her character and background was developed fully. -Sebastian Shaw: (7.0) Bacon did the character justice. -Beast: (7.5) I thought he was one of the pleasant surprises. -Moira McTaggert: (6.5) I thought she was done well, albeit in a different role than I expected. -Mystique: (7.5) Another pleasant surprise, I didn't expect much for the character judging from the previews.
Incompletes:I don't think I can rate the following performances based on lack of involvement or actual speaking parts. Havok Banshee Darwin Azazel Riptide
Thoughts,smart remarks, agree or disagree?

Michael Fassbender was amazing. James McAvoy was really great. Kevin Bacon was great.

-Magneto: (10) I thought his performance was the best thing about the movie. I found nothing wrong with adult Magneto. Child Magneto was a little weak but other than that, perfect. Absolute scene stealer the whole time.
-Professor X: (9) He did very well in this movie. I found him very engaging, believable and funny.
-Emma Frost: (4) I felt she was a very weak character for how much she was in the film. Anyone can play a emotionless robot. I also took issue with how badly her diamond form was nerfed. Her durability was useless.
-Sebastian Shaw: (7) I agree that Bacon did the character justice. Very bad villain. I even thought his power change was cool.
-Beast: (7) Beast's personal weakness was well displayed in my opinion.
-Moira McTaggert: (7) Very nicely done.
-Mystique: (8) I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of depth she had in the film. She was not up there with Magneto but it was more than I expected.
-Havok: (5) He was not a very likable character and I thought his hola-hoop power was kind of silly.
-Banshee: (6) Not really a lot of screen time but I thought he was pretty funny.
-Darwin: (5) Snoozefest as far as characters go. I felt nothing when he died.
-Azazel: (6) Not too much to the character but I thought he looked pretty bad ass.
-Riptide: (6) Another guy that looked pretty cool but absolutely zero character development.
-Angel: (5) I am not too sure she was even needed in this movie. She served no purpose and her character was as thin as her wings.

I said to my brother after the movie: "Did you notice how Riptide didn't even say one word?"
Lol now that I think about it, was Riptide's name even mentioned? Maybe once?
And yeah Fassbender and McAvoy were on just about the same level. I loved both of the characters and their relationship played out very well and it was believable.

I don't think he should even be considered Riptide. He is never mentioned by name, and his powers aren't even the same as in the comics.
