"Medicine Soldiers" Writer: Grant Morrison Artist: Chris Burnham In this issue, Man of Bats and his son/protege Raven Red find themselves the targets of Leviathan, the mysterious organization that's become a huge thorn in Bruce Wayne's side in the pages of Batman, Inc. The native American duo are having issues of their own as Raven Red is tired of crime fighting and wants to quit. His father's secret identity has been exposed and unknown to them its due to the mysterious Leviathan organization. Man of Bats (who is also a licensed doctor) is trying to crack down on the crime in their South Dakota town when he roughs up a drug dealer. The local police arrest him for being in possession of breath mints and Raven Red has had enough. He quits and leaves his father in the hands of the local authorities. He returns home and runs into Batman. He's then informed that his dad was right and the entire town has been infiltrated by Leviathan agents. The two take off to rescue Man of Bats and find him surrounded by a horde of agents. Thoughts: This is a stand alone story and a pretty good one at that. I really enjoyed Man of Bats and Red Raven's appearances in Batman RIP and the Black Glove arcs. Things don't change here as Morrison does a good job with their father/son dynamic. This book might not make sense if you haven't been following it for the entire series. That's the only bad thing I can say about it. 8/10

I really like this issue mainly because it actually showed how life was like for Native Americans while moving the story forward.
In terms of "nothing happened", I cannot disagree more. What Morrison did was take Little Raven who was essentially a Robin still tied to the Bat and lift him from that spot into a soldier to fight Leviathan. In my opinion, he turned a Robin into a Nightwing - so to speak. With Man of Bats out for a bit, his son would be defending their home from the influences of Leviathan.

Yes. Man Of Bats is a Native American member of Batmen Inc and his son is Raven Red.
