"Moonwalk Part #1"
I haven't been following Daken for a couple of issues and decided to pick this up since I've been reading the Moon Knight series. Daken has shifted his base of operations to the Los Angeles area with plans of taking over as it's new kingpin. He's also become addicted to a drug named Heat that weakens his healing factor and causes him to have blackouts. To make matters even worse, an FBI agent named Donna Kiel is trailing him due to their being a new serial killer in the area who uses claws as their calling card.
For unknown reasons Daken agrees to help Kiel track down the killer. They go undercover at a high end Hollywood party with hopes of attracting the killer. However, Daken needs a fix and pops a pill. He wakes up a few hours later to discover Kiel missing and tries to track her down. He makes his way to a dark apartment where he's confronted by Moon Knight.....
To Be Continued.
Thoughts:
I'm new to Daken's current direction but this was pretty decent. I may read up on some back issues to find out exactly how the Heat drug has been affecting him. From the preview page it says it alters his perceptions, weakens his healing factor and causes him to endure blackouts. I enjoyed Williams' take on Daken and his manipulating ways. He's always been a character with questionable motives and Williams does a good job with that in this issue.
6.5/10 I would probably rate this higher if I was current and up to date.
