Written by Ed Brubaker Pencils by Billy Tan & Clayton Henry This story collects UXM #475-486. This story picks right up after the events of Deadly Genesis. Vulcan has left Earth to destroy the Shi'ar Empire for Emperor D'Ken's hand in his mother's death. Professor X assembles a team of X-Men that includes Havok, Polaris, Nightcrawler, Rachel Grey (Summers), Warpath, Darwin and Nightcrawler. The team makes a desperate gamble to warn Lilandra of Vulcan's imminent arrival but run into all kinds of trouble along the way. The Good: Everything. The art is phenomenal. The storytelling from Brubaker is nearly flawless and we get to see the personalities of everyone involved thoroughly explored. If there was ever a Star Wars of comics then this is it. It's one of the best X-Men arcs I've ever read. Another thing that makes it so great is that outside of Nightcrawler & Professor X it doesn't involve any of the X-Men's A-listers. This is 12 issues of comic masterpiece ladies and gentlemen. The Bad: Nothing. 9/10 One of the best X-Men stories told. Buy this.

This has been on my TPB "to-buy" list for awhile, looks like I might have to prioritize it a little higher. Thanks, Jake.

I thoroughly enjoyed this as well. In fact, I think this was the first story that got me interested im Marvel's cosmic aspect of the universe and made Havok one of my favorite X-Men characters.

I've seen this in bookstores but never got around to picking it up.
Due to this review, I'll probably be looking for it now.

One of the best X-Stories ever? No. Not even close.
A decent story that was far better than the previous 3 runs on Uncanny (Claremont, Austen, Casey)? Yes.
Enough to keep me from dropping the book? No.
I think it still wasn't of the quality of the Seagle and Davis runs that preceded the Revolution event and those are hardly considered the best X-Stories of all time, either.

I just finished reading this.
I agree. It was fantastic. I loved it from beginning to end.
The only thing I didn't really like about it was the coloring. Everything just looked so... shiny.
