Writer: JT Krul Penciller: Dan Jurgens Inker: George Perez I'll be doing this in a similar format to my JLA #1 review to avoid spoilers and keep it relatively brief. Issue #1 of Green Arrow is here and we see some changes to the man known to the DC Universe as the Emerald Archer. -Queen Industries is now located in Seattle, Washington. -Q-Corp is a separate division of Queen Industries and is mentioned as being a direct competitor to Waynetech, Lexcorp and Holt Industries. -Oliver's costume is very similar in nature to his Smallville costume, including his mask containing tech such as infrared vision. -Oliver has a support staff including a woman named Naomi (Chloe Sullivan anyone?) and a couple of other guys that help with weapons. -Oliver is also known here as being a world traveler. This also allows him to face superhumans around the globe. Thoughts: Well, I wasn't sure if I was reading a comic or watching an old episode of Smallville. The villains in this issue are all brand new and seemed pretty lame. Their boss shows up at the end and he doesn't really appear to be anyone from the previous DC universe either. The art by Jurgens is pretty solid if unspectacular. Also like JLA the entire issue feels like it takes up a total of about 5 minutes in comic time. I don't think I'll be picking up the #2 issue for this one. 5/10

They made him into a near-identical twin of Ult. Hawkeye. His costume is so similar.

I would also like to know the current whereabouts of Ollie's awesome goatee.

I thought the issue was alright. Not the flamboyant start that some of the other titles offered, but still a competent effort all around. Except for the villains - they seemed far too stereotypical punching bags for Ollie to beat up. The new bunch at the end of the issue just seemed more of the same.

"they seemed far too stereotypical punching bags for Ollie to beat up" You sure you're not reading Nightwing?

Hahaha, Krul stole a page from Dixon's playbook. Ollie didn't even get hit once.

Speaking of which, who did the art/colors for Dixon's run? I loved that.

McDaniel was the artist. I don't know who the colourist was, but he complimented McDaniel very nicely.

Alright, just finished the issue. I'd give it a 6-6.5/10.

I would also like to know the current whereabouts of Ollie's awesome goatee. This, this is the real question I contend that Queen's ability to compete with Wayne Tech and Luthor Corp is impossible because of this also: www.the-gutters.com/comic/13-joe-cooper

This sucks, I was really looking forward to this because I think Ollie Queen is an awesome character. I'm really sad to say that book had some of the corniest dialogue I've ever read from start to finish. I have no idea what they were thinking but none of it was interesting or cool. It just oozed 'trying too hard' all over.

This is pretty much what I expected of the relaunch. I haven't got it yet but I will pick it up. As I've said in other discussions I expected the relaunch to make many of the characters tie in or closely resemble versions they have in digital media (where they exist). or for future planned versions for other media where they don't (like I said the reason Cyborg is in JLA).

Alright, Have it now and IMHO not too bad. The villains were a joke but I do like the set up so far for Ollie. Particularly like the attitude he showed when his weapons designer suggested throwing a policeman's ball. I can't sit on the side lines, last time I did that people died. This is going to be a GA i can get into. Even though I hated the trick arrow stage in the Satellite era (much preferred Grell's "real" archer) I can dig a wealthy guy owning tech divisions using specially designed weapons. Especially when they're not all on the end of a low tech arrow.

There are problems when your inker and penciler are both better writers than your writer.
