Witchblade: Witch Hunt Writer: Ron Marz Artist: Mike Choi This trade collects issues #80-85 and mark the beginning of Ron Marz's run on the series. It is also available for only $4.99 which in this day and age is an absolute bargain. I've never read a single issue of Witchblade so bear with me if I state something that's incorrect. The Story: This story opens with Sarah Pezzini (the bearer of the Witchblade) in a coma in a NYC hospital. We're introduced to her ex-partner in the NYPD Jake and a newcomer to the series, Patrick Gleason who's also involved with the police department. We also see a cameo appearance by a woman named Magdalena who actually favors Sarah in appearance. We also learn that Sarah is in her condition because of an incident that happened at a local Catholic Church. What follows is a story that just grabs you and yanks you in. Sarah emerges from her coma and launches an investigation of her own to find out what happened. The story jumps into a world of Church scandal, demons and corrupt priests and an end of times event that involves the ascension of an ancient and demonic god. I don't want to spoil it for anyone but it is very good. The story by Marz and art by Choi are outstanding. It's very easy to follow because there are only 3-4 principal characters involved. 8.5/10
