@everyone: Lol. Maybe I should watch the episode for myself before I try to argue it. @k4tz: In the comic, Shane was not really a villain either. In the comic, both he AND Lori left Rick and in her moment of weakness and loneliness, took Shane to bed. In the show, she only banged Shane because she was told Rick was dead. You had me convinced before that shane was always a dick in the comic. I'm glad to see he really wasn't in the show...At least at first, lol. He was a shit in the comic. But then again, so was Lori. They both left him in the comic but in the show (at least before this last episode) we were led to believe that Shane lied to Lori to get her in bed.

I'm glad they actually SHOWED that scene instead of having it discussed between the two. Maybe Shane remarking on it when he was drunk. This way, we at least knew he was being honest, and has just gone completely downhill from there. I was happy with the episode. I know a few people were expecting like a zombie massacre, but that wouldn't make a whole lot of sense based on the situation....Like, at all.

I just saw the episode myself last night and I must say, I am not entirely convinced. Shane sees that Rick has a heartbeat and suddenly when the machine breaks, Rick dies? I maintain that Shane only thought he wanted Rick alive. He still blocked off the door which to me implies that he knew Rick was still alive. Also the look back into the room just prior to leaving. You do not normally check to see if someone has woken up if you think they are dead.

I know a few people were expecting like a zombie massacre, but that wouldn't make a whole lot of sense based on the situation....Like, at all. I think he could have been under the belief Rick was on life support, and when the power went, he legitimately didn't hear a heart beat. (likely due to the chaos around him, like he pointed out). Blocking the door could have been out of respect, so zombies wouldn't consume his (he believes to be) dead body. I think the second look is him second guessing himself, realizing maybe he didn't check thoroughly enough to confirm whether Rick was dead or alive. I just saw the episode myself last night and I must say, I am not entirely convinced. Shane sees that Rick has a heartbeat and suddenly when the machine breaks, Rick dies? @k4tz: I think you are giving Shane too much credit. He proves just about every episode what a turd he is though you may be right about him second guessing himself.

Meh, that's what I took from the entire scene, and then he's just been going on a downward slope since. I have the advantage of watching the show with a clear mind, where-as you already have the opinion set regarding the characters

I do have this image in my head of what he is like already. But my opinion of Lori is radically different in the show than the comics. In the show, she is stronger. Hell Shane even said in the show that she would have gone back for Rick if she knew he was alive. She even wanted to risk going to hang a sign outside of Atlanta by herself. In the comics, she was a sheep. A sheep that left Rick when Shane came for her. The show draws much more parallels with Shane and Rick. Everyone else is different in personality from the comic to the show. Dale was not nearly the poet he was in the comic and Andrea seemed more like Lori is in the show.

"The living dead return: From 21 October FOX shows the German TV premieres the second season of the horror hits The Walking Dead."
So there is an indication of when it's returning.

I have a hard time shelling out $20.00 for only 6 episodes.

It was really good. The herd scene was a trip. Little racist dude is turning into a actual likable guy as well. I really am kind of sick of Andrea's whinny bitching though. I would prefer comic Andrea.
I also am really hoping to see Michonne this season too.

The dude's injury during the beginning felt really out of place, and the church zombies were kind of wtf worthy. But those minor complaints aside, really good first episode.
